Shark Hunter you seem to be in the know on the situation and quite possibly and AHOS player/spectator.

Can you shed any light on the fact that a AHOS player refused to walk when given out on Day 1 and had to be told to get off by the non striker and continued to carry on as he left the oval and also had a bit to say from the boundary line? Is there any truth to this.

I would think from having played against the AHOS captain if his sledging was tame I am sure it still crossed the line of what is acceptable. He see's a new player or someone he hasn't played and pushes there limits and finally found someone that would do there talking with something other than there run scoring ability.

He (AHOS Captain) is a great bloke off the field just suffers from white line fever.

It is a real shame that ATCA has had this happen but I think it will hopefully make everyone open there eyes to what is gamesmanship and what is crossing line.

I think the result of the tribunal shows that he didn't cross any lines. (Cougar's report on the outcome is correct, except I heard banned until March 2009). He did hang around probably a bit too long after being given out and carried on a bit more than he should have and honestly, should have probably been warned. From all reports (including from opposition players), it was a stinker of a decision but it is no excuse and occurs far to often in turf (and grade) cricket.

The Adelaide Turf Cricket website is ******.
The results are all wrong of players.

I played in the B's on the weekend and it had my brothers name.
It happened too a few players, and not only in that grade.

Get the facts right before posting them for all to see.

It is the home clubs responsibility to enter scores online. So if there is a mistake then the opposition club has the oppurtunity to notify the home club before the results are approved. If the results are approved with an error then it is the opposition clubs fault for not bringing that to the home clubs attention. The ATCA has nothing to do with it.

I am lead to believe the same as Abber that the Tribunal was not sitting till Thursday Night? So that is interesting as talking to a friend of a friend the Brighton Player was facing a Club Hearing on the Tuesday Night so I when was the Tribunal Hearing? Can you shed some light on this Cougar or Shark Hunter?

My information could well be wrong just want to make sure the facts are correct. If they are seems like the Tribunal may have growen some balls at long last. I know that from talking to some umpires they have been of the belief that the Tribunal has been too easy on players.

I'm in your corner with this one Punter. I work with a Brighton player who played in the match. He told me the same thing. That is that they had met on Tuesday night to discuss the situation in preparation for Thursday night.

Mate, all I am passing on is the info i received from the AHOS Captain on Tuesday night. There was no hearing on Tues, they submitted written statements and were informed of the outcome by phone I believe. There may be some official meeting with the Brighton player and ATCA tonight but I am fairly sure that the AHOS Boys are off the hook and not attending any hearing tonight.

Punter I think you are being a little bit precious on the sledging issue. It is tool that men mainly bowlers use to try to get a batsman out of their comfort zone and make them do something irrational. Waz in this situation did nothing untowards and was just acting in a way most premier grade bowlers do every game every week. Occasionally he can step over the line, but it isnt often. I think batsmen are often too precious if they let a few words that are out there to put them off their game actually put them off their game. Especially the way Ronny's (Ronny who is a sensational bloke) son went off on the weekend. Obviously he has other issues and I hope he sorts them out, but to suggest that a bowler is in the wrong in any way in this type of incident as he is saying a few words to a batsmen in my opinion is ridiculous. It is a man's game we choose to play at a high level. Sledging will and should continue to go on. It is a valuable tool for a bowler in a tough game.

Yes sledging that leads to these sorts of incidents is a great thing for cricket of course we want it to stay in the game.

I have played enough Premier League Cricket to know that your so called tactic that is used by all bowlers was not that commen. Most games I was involved in were played hard but fair with the odd word passed between players but not kind of stuff that apparently went on at the game on the weekend.

Still it is interesting that there was no Tribunal for the players to appear before just a Sub Committee meeting with written statements and then they decide and ring people. First time I have ever heard of a Tribunal working like this.

I guess this coming from an association who let a North Division Junior side continue on in the finals after playing an illegal player but disqualified two southern sides from the Grand Final for the same thing.

Anyway the matter has been dealt with. So lets get on with the good stuff about cricket and forget the ugly.

Mate I think you are clutching at straws if you say that it is the sledging that led to this event. In my opinion having played in this game it was more one person's mental instability more than anything that led to this to happen. I cannot imagine in my many years of having played A grade cricket with AHOS, and then in my 5 years of district before that that any other batsman would have reacted that way. Have never seen it happen on a cricket field before and am unlikely to ever see it happen again with sledging or without. So for you to suggest it was the sledging that caused the incident is ridiculous. The guy was a loose cannon who obviously has more issues than just a few words being spoken to him. As I said I hope that he recovers from it as it is not good and I have a lot of respect for his father who has umpired me since I started playing district cricket so I wish them all the best in their recovery. However I refuse to believe it is the sledging htat caused it. More one's inability to cope with it. With flat decks etc it is a batsman's game. Anything a bowler can do to get an edge in my opinion is fair enough, as long as it doesnt get ridiculously personal which this didnt.

As for the tribunal, well that is nothing I can comment on, we shall wait and see what eventuates.

The man in question is indeed a loose cannon although I was only team mates with him for 2 seasons at district level he did have his moments looks like to him the combinations of his outburst and the sledge have tipped him over the edge which is a shame as he can bat
