I've heard whispers a large number have already committed to cricket at Rose Park this season. I've heard that they are looking to fill an entire team of footballers in the lower grades under Rose Parks banner.. couple of handy sorts as well..

sorry i have been gagged...Fitzroy style during GF week

definate player of the future though.

Will be very positive for the association if Rose Park get a few more players
think they will be the team to watch this season. Good mix of young and older
players. wouldnt surprise me if they made it to the GF.

Mate, if that's all it would take to get you to play for vista I'm sure oxy will be more than happy to leave a message at the tone. They need some young bowling talent that's for sure.

I'm fairly sure the draw isn't out yet, as the clubs have been given until Friday to vote between 3 options - it looks like the season will either start on Oct 8 or 15th.

A: 5 two-dayers, 5 onedayers (as in 2010/11)
B: 7-3 (as in 2009/10)
C: 6-6 (as in 2008-09)

I actually thought of an alternative that might work better, but people might not want the uncertainty of a (possibly) unfinalised draw.
My idea wrote:Since allegedly the draw isn’t being printed off but will only be available via the website (is this confirmed?)...
Go with the 6-6 option but put *** alongside the rounds 11 and 12 fixtures (or whatever the rounds are when 2 teams play for the third time that make this option lopsided, it might well be rounds 10 and 12, looking at the proposed dates)
IF an earlier round or two is completely washed out/heated out over ALL grades, then these rounds are moved to rounds 11 and 12 and replace the nominated fixtures for those rounds. Otherwise play the rounds as nominated.

This would result in a more even draw than either the 6-6 option (you might end up playing some teams 3 times and other teams once with washouts/heatouts) or the 5-5 option (you might end up with very few days cricket being played and still have a lopsided draw due to washouts/heatouts)
I don’t think the uncertainty this gives the draw would be a major issue – clubs already cope fine with not knowing where they are playing in finals until the week before, and the draw could already be known and clearly spelled out on the website by Christmas if there are two early cancelled games.

We had an email going around our club asking for our opinions on the above mentioned options, from what i seen everyone was keen on 6/6 including me. What i hadnt thought of was that we have to play a couple of teams three times and others twice. In my infinite wisdom i now think this idea sucks arse. It happened a few years ago and i hated it. I would rather a fair draw of playing each team twice ie 5/5 matches.

I like your idea ecky but going on from that why cant we have a 20/20 comp in those extra days?

2 saturdays of minor round games plus a saturday of finals, GF and minor round placings.

Heard a rumour that Wiles from Vista didn't retire. The real reason is that he failed the medical and didn't get offerred a contract extension. With Bevan and Wiles departing, are there any spinners left in the comp?

I have retired from cricket not the forum champ. By the way when was was the last time Reggie ever got one to spin I think cougar got bamboozled by playing for spin. I hear you might be pulling the pin because Vista have taken out the mirror in the change rooms. Any truth?????

hey Lads!

shirt should be one or two weeks away smasha- ordered them last week.

wow never been called a spinner before! been accused many times of spinning sh!t but thats about it.

Personally i like the 7 / 3 format. Have the one dayers around chrissy when sometimes its hard to get
players and during the season mainly 2 dayers. This way you generally get 2 bats a game and it also gives the captain a chance to give guys a bowl or a bat that often miss out. JMO.

with heaps of one dayers you can lose out on alot of bonus points too. you can roll a team for 80 and then make the runs easily but if in another game a team makes 200 and then rolls the other team for 80 they get more bonus points.
The way our points system is doesnt favour having too many one dayers.
