They were in A2's last year and have been re-promoted this year. My mail was they had lost the two or three players they were paying last season to get them back into A1's, so I'd think they would be battling it out for the spoon with a few other sides - as they had been for the three or four years prior to being demoted.
I guess Jenner and co prefer being big fish in little ponds.

may have something to do with the fact the voters are GC players or members, i didnt think they have lost too many can you name them have they picked up any

I'd heard Jenner was going to Sandy Creek (word on the street). Given he was their leading wicket taker and probably run scorer in A2's last year thats a big whole in a side thats pretty much a 2 or 3 player outfit. I think Kingy was also rumoured to be out of there? Whoever played Centrals on the weekend should be able to confirm, but even thier full side from last year in A2's wouldn't go close to challenging for an A1 top 4 spot.

So unless they have actively picked up players again (and remembering that Jenner cost them big money) they wont be any better than they were two and three seasons ago when they couldn't win games.

Jenner not at sandy and there was never any talk that he would be . i would be checking my word on the street before i went to far with it

Yeah but my point is that they dominated an A2 competition that is as week as I can remember it for probably 15 - 20 years ... the gulf from A2's to A1's is massive. So Kingy who scored 1000 in A2's .... I dont think he would have ever made 500 in A1's would he ? So its a massive gap to be A1 competitive.

Gawler Central does not pay any players whatsoever. They give out rewards in free drinks etc for good performances. I dont really know of any clubs in the Barossa that pay cricketers. That seems to be a Para Districts thing to do...

FYI Jenner made 109no and King 81 on the weekend

they might not make the finals but they have to be given a chance after they dominated every team last year even if it was A2

Given a chance to play A1's - definitely. But to think they will take it out .... very optomistic. (which is what I'm suggesting)

PS - I'm not suprised they made runs on the weekend.

yeah a lot of what i know about is basically cash-for-runs/wickets and sign-on fees as well as clubs purchasing bats/gear for players. Can still mean a club shelling out a fair bit of money to attract recruits...
