What does the winner of this T20 comp get, do they win cash prize a trophy or do they go into another T20 comp against other association T20 winners? It sounds like AFL season with coaches saying they dont take the NAB cup seriously. Its still a game of cricket and no-one likes losing.

Yeah but if the association wants us to take it seriously, they should appoint an umpire to every game and have a draw where you HAVE to play on that day, if not bad luck. Until then its Mickey Mouse. IMO.

I don't think you get anything for winning but as you said no-one likes losing but i think the quality of the side each club puts on the park explains how serious they are about the game. We are playing a strong side each game however, we struggled getting 11 people who wanted to play the first one.

You can only beat the side you're put up against. We've decided to take the competition seriously, I don't think we're the only club that has. I also don't see a problem with that.

Big call to say "troubles a head" - it wasn't what you'd call normal cricket conditions. Average lighting (dusk made it pretty tough for both sides), white ball, very limited overs... I will admit it was far from convincing.

Both sides had to play in the conditions.

Agreed. I did mention that the light was tough for both teams.

At the end of the day, its each club's decision on how they promote it within their own club and how seriously they want to take it. We're using it as an extra practice session for mainly A-grade and also giving guys pushing for a spot a chance. *Our* decision has been not to play any of our lower grade big hitters so far, however that may change.

Edit: changed my mind

any club without a junior system is digging their own grave...look at waradale, 10 years ago we struggled to fill 2 teams now we have 12!

Very true JB without juniors most clubs will struggle to last. Lucky there are plenty of young responsible people like you and CK to look after the junior sides at your clubs.

Any of you blokes calling 20/20 Mickey mouse and your only giving blokes in low grades a go are pathetic. Very disappointing post Bazza. You are never going to convince me it's equal conditions to be the team batting second under lights with a 'white' ball at North Haven either. While on the white ball topic - they are crap. Break up and change colour in no time.

I never go out to lose no matter whether it's saturday cricket or lawn bowls on a thursday night. Now that the team has that attitude we are finally starting to see some success.

How different your posts would have been if you had won.

I would argue that you are way off the mark by calling a T20 comp at Suburban hard wicket level any thing but Mickey Mouse....

How could any one take a comp seriously that lets clubs decide where and when they play, and you could win or lose the game through the toss of a coin!

I don't think Bazza's posts would be any different whether they won or lost AF. The few times i have played at Nth Haven with a white ball it has been fine just that 15 minute period where you are inbetween natural and artificial light. The white balls should be lasting 20 overs easily we used them for 50 and they didn't go bad until about the 40 over mark. I am sure the 11 that took the field for Nth Haven wanted to win but the end result was fairly obvious with the way the two clubs selected their sides. Nothing wrong with picking your best side the same as others not treating it seriously and picking their side accordingly.

I have said from the start that this was Mickey Mouse cricket ( look back on an early post from me). And I am really not sure what part of my post dissapointed you AF? I had a chance to play from the start but I wasnt interested, the boys were dissapointed in losing but at the end of the day they were playing a better side. My post wouldnt have been any different AF, your being a bit emotional now. ;)
