Yes very true, and the other thing we cant lose sight of, is the PDCA cant afford to lose anymore clubs.Currently in Div 3, the top 6 teams are all B grade teams. Two of these will be playing Div 2 next season. LM, now is the time for some wholesale changes LOL

Oh did you see the crowd for the Big bash last night in Perth peoples? 17,000 fans...mmmmmm whats that about T20?
I will be pushing for it once again to be included in PDCA next season

i have it a on good mail that there will be no salisbury north next year!

It would be a shame to see Salisbury North fold, they have emerged from the brink over the past few years, 4 sides now after their A's were in Grade 4 three years ago.
On a positive note, I could just see Joss steaming in from the Creek end at Smithfield Oval.

You can have Joss if we can have Charlie Molyneux back

I'd love to see it, I'm not sure if there's room for it in the regular season, maybe a couple of preliminary matches then knock out. you just have to go along to one of our T20 matches to see the spectator level increased.
B Grade teams should most definetely play against whoever their A's are playing.
I'd like to see the PDCA and other clubs think outside the square, schedule some mid-week games for juniors perhaps.

Got a reason Carey??

my mail is that they get no support at all from the club as the club itself doesnt want cricket cause its a football club and that was a quote!

and if it wasnt for joss and co there would be no cricket now

definately heard similar, joss is such a big thing for cricket at salis north and it must be hard for him to fight the footy side of the club. unfortunately for them, theyre having a rough year and that probably doesnt help the lack of support from the club. if they were sitting top two and winning games, then it might be a different story. some very good talent amongst the group which could make a few teams a little stronger next year. burden, joss and galbraith to the CREEK next year
Get that corn outta my face!!

all you have to do is have a look at the 'import' player names that were on the team sheets to see why there were more people there than normal... Not saying you'd get 17,000 to Adelaide for a 1 dayer with those players, but certainly helps attract the crowd!
I think 20/20 should be a seperate comp... not a form of cricket Id like to see become a part of our regular season...

I think you will need to tinker with the proposal and not go with the same proposal as previous years.

Why dont you come up with a proposal where we still have 8 teams as I think your 6 team comp was a major reason why it got defeated last year.

I think the T20 comp should be separate from the normal season and each team only has to get 1 team together and then those teams that are really interested will go hard to win it, it will need to be a knockout comp.

Just my thoughts

Its happened before a few years back when they were a strong team in Div 1 no reason why it wont happen again.

If you're referring to Eastern Park then there's been that talk for the past few years, wont happen. If you're referring to Brahma Lodge you must be kidding, minor premiers in div. 6 is hardly booming.
Angle Vale: Footy in div. 7 and will struggle in 2010. No.
Salisbury West: Footy in div. 4, not booming. No.
Virginia: Footy doing well in APFL, too much tradition though. No.
Smithfield: Never.
Central United: Footy has gone to div. 7. No.

I heard Eastern Park were extremly close to pulling the pin this season, it has defintaley become harder for the cricketers there since the footballers have rised through the grades and to be perfectly honest if John Ashworth was to leave the club at any stage that would be the end of cricket there without doubt.

Agree with the last bit, if there was no John Ashworth EP cricket would not exist. John Ashworth only took back the coaches role after Dougie left for Angle Vale. He probably saw a club that was on the brink of possibly not finishing out the year, a club which he has put so much work into for the past 15 or so years, and he couldn't let it happen. There is so much talent out there that it would be a crime for EP cricket to not exist next year. As long as John Ashworth is there, the juniors WILL stay. With a couple senior players to help out (Bradley Banks current captain, Dave Boulton returning from over seas) the future will hold plenty of success.

Looking at the ladder it looks like they will be heading for Grade 3. I am pretty sure this wouldn't be a bad thing for the club, as the juniors enjoy playing with each other and it wouldn't bother them that much what grade they play in. It just would be hard to attract senior cricketers. I would go as far to say they will dominate Grade 3 with their juniors alone, (Hollis, McConnell, Morris, Smith, Andrews etc) but of course you need the 3-4 senior players to guide them. EP is not the first to go through this sort of rebuild, to be honest it was always going to happen after making the Semi Final in Grade 1 a few years ago on the back of Kenny McConnell and Kev Thomas. That squad had quite a few older players who only had a couple years left, so it was inevitable that there was going to be a rebuild time until the juniors found their feet.
