Just going through some of the results from last round in PDCA and was drawn to a Grade 7 game between Salisbury North and Brahma Lodge. The Lodge made 2/272 off 36... then lost!

I've never played a game on that back junior pitch, but why do they allow senior teams to play on it??? It distorts the stats so badly! I bet there have been some massive totals made on that kanga cricket ground!

Gee.... be hard to set a field on that ground. Point on the boundary, cover on the boundary, gully on the boundary and bowl outside off!

It would be a shame to see Salisbury North fold, they have emerged from the brink over the past few years, 4 sides now after their A's were in Grade 4 three years ago.
On a positive note, I could just see Joss steaming in from the Creek end at Smithfield Oval.

How many clubs are just cricket clubs though? Are there any successful clubs not aligned with footy clubs?

Rose & Crown
ATCO
Angle Vale (Cricket was there before footy and they don't exactly get along great)
One Tree Hill
Craigmore
Riverside
Playford
Parafield Gardens (Soccer)

Here are some from Grades 1 & 2, although we also have football, we are a seperate identity and each sporting body needs to be financially viable to continue. Our cricket has made a profit every year for the past 10 years, bar takings aren't included in this, we rely on bbq's, rego's and other forms of fundraising.
Having said that, our Sports & Social Club does give us a $35, $30 & $25 voucher each game for MOTM, if you get 100 or 7 wickets you get a 10 schooner voucher or a 5 schooner voucher for a 50 of 5 for.
We also get 3 jugs per team after the match if enough players come back to the club and they have no objections to giving opposing teams a couple of jugs for coming back to our club.

If you're referring to Eastern Park then there's been that talk for the past few years, wont happen. If you're referring to Brahma Lodge you must be kidding, minor premiers in div. 6 is hardly booming.
Angle Vale: Footy in div. 7 and will struggle in 2010. No.
Salisbury West: Footy in div. 4, not booming. No.
Virginia: Footy doing well in APFL, too much tradition though. No.
Smithfield: Never.
Central United: Footy has gone to div. 7. No.

I heard Eastern Park were extremly close to pulling the pin this season, it has defintaley become harder for the cricketers there since the footballers have rised through the grades and to be perfectly honest if John Ashworth was to leave the club at any stage that would be the end of cricket there without doubt.

John is the backbone of the cricket there, that has been the case for a few years now. I was up there a couple of weeks ago and it seems as though the new committee is starting to look after cricket a bit better, why wouldn't they, there is a plethora of talent there.

John's position was not renewed at East Pk this year and even though he is currently back there, Im not sure what the future holds for him?
Wasn't hard to work out that EPFC is really the only club with a ever growing football culture and a sliding cricket team.
Im sorry to say LM. the writing is on the wall. Very sad if it does happen as the development of the juniors is brilliant. Mick Bray and team do a great job. Would like to see how much money is made from EPCC over the 6 months of summer

You don't have to apologise to me, if their executive committee doesn't see cricket to be worth having out there, so be it. I get along very well with all the young lads out there and a lot of the older blokes, we'd be more than happy to have them on board.
I think you might find that they've had a new lease of life since the start of December though and look to be heading in the right direction, hopefully all the lads keep their heads up and stick the season out together, they seem to be enjoying themselves and that's 90% of the ingredients required.
