Tim Davey's grand mum's scones are worth trip alone.

What about watching Ben Cameron go around again?????

H31, yes pretty proud of the job the ladies do up there, interesting, none of them have kids playing, they just love the work and the club, oh and the champers post 4 pm they don't mind either. Unfortunately the scones only get served when Davey's playing at home. Ask the Sturt boys what they got after the T/20 the other night, a feast fit for a king. And as for Camo, he played a couple of B Grade games and the knees passed the test, I think your boys will tell you he can still play and got a stinker in the end.

Also heard Camo tested out some sledges as well as the knee ;)

For what they dished up the scones were not necessary  Was up at the club getting a B grade score check when the first Champagne bottle was cracked got the hell out of there. Also Plenty of old time boys there just enjoying the days play and seeing they were supporting the Bulls they would have went home happy

Hearing some bad reports about an up and coming First Class Cricketer from TTG carrying on like a pork chop in the field yesterday.

my advice is check your boot size son and show some respect to officials of the game. No problem with showing some passion for your club but direct it into the right areas so you don't embarrass yourself and your club.

Fantastic to see Jeff Benton make a comeback and debut for Port Adelaide as an opening bowler yesterday according to the Mail results. Unfortunately he seems to have tipped son, Nick, out of a spot.

Not the first time this year, witnessed it myself in another game.
Perhaps he should be named 'Richard'.

Not surprising though as TTG have a habit of getting a bit in front of themselves at this time of year, do remember a story surrounding a pre-Xmas late night phone call to another club a couple of years back that went along the lines of 'engrave the trophy'. Don't believe they played finals that year, or since.

Heard a story that they are having issues with Glenelg Oval wickets and the B grade game after Christmas has been moved to Brighton Oval. Looked at the program and the game is programmed for Brighton, is it the wickets that are the problem at Glenelg or another reason for moving the game?

Council curator still on holidays?

Brighton oval done by private contractor that also has Grade wickets on their books....

Strange that it wasn't moved to a SACA prepared ground :?

From what I've heard the square down the bay is really struggling atm... high salt content in the clay isn't helping to get the grass growing

More the fact he doesn't water it, never has, he has been a problem for countless years and there would not be one person at Glenelg sad to see the back of him. Terribly dissapointing for the club after all the money that was spent to upgrade it.

Brighton Oval is a cracking ground. Pitch square puts many grade clubs to shame

TC, from my memory, they have a South African couch square, apart from Renmark, probably the only place to use that grass, which we are trying (very hard) to get back on Pertaringa Oval. Very high salt tolerant, perhaps Glenelg should use that, not that Les B would let them.

I find it hard to fathom that with the money and resources put into the re-laying of the square, the clay, which was probably sourced from the same place i get mine is affecting grass growth. I think, from memory, Les consulted in the construction process, and pretty sure you don't get better advice than that.
I would be looking at the water quality, and how often its watered, too many games (ie not enough rest).
Surely a soil test has been done?
I've seen over the years how the council maintain the oval so i'm not shocked. Heavy rolling the oval on Saturday mornings, which i find very weird, during footy season?
Why the seahorses dont engage a private contractor to do the wicket block and nets is beyond me.
Correct though Brighton does have south African couch and it is a quality deck.

Is it?

I know they have that grass on colonel wait oval up at Kensington too. Looks like you'd play lawn bowls on it but plays pretty well whenever I was there.

TTG are up against it. Biggest football club in Australia, the oval cops an absolute pasting all winter, moreso than any other ground in Adelaide. Add the slope that basically funnels rain from the surrounds down towards the pitch square.

Do they have a good curator now? I remember their old curator at one stage wanted to cut a pitch diagonally across the square as there were a few decent patches of grass that lined up that way. Forget that the sun would be in the batters eyes  He seemed like a clown. Can't imagine he did the pitch square any favours while he was there.

Would the club ever consider making Bulkana the No 1 ground? Just that it only has little athletics on it and less traffic in winter so you could have a bloody good pitch square down there. Would it be big enough?

Yes, Colonel Waite does have South African. Go back 8 years, we had fully covered South African square, which we are trying to get back to, have to agree a appointment that turned to crap has caused our issues. No, totally relaid with conquest couch, which did not return after winter and that is where the battle began. We now have a 76 year old who did it many years ago, pre Terry Jenner. We have played a 1 dayer and T/20 on Bulkana, but rest of oval not good enough. We are getting there, but cannot afford to not have A / B Grade play at home.
