on the super side of things, we play fitzroy this week. if he not batting high on the team sheet,
I would be looking for another side. wasted young talent . IMO.
NEK always looking for new players super   just a thought as well on super.
if he is not batting as an opener due to current form ? you would drop him to b grade ? not way down the order.

Na mate, dropped in once for a 10 wicket win, that was enough for me.

Had a whole 6 turn up last night - across an interval of an hour or so. Had several (5) apologies for last night and committments to attend next Monday (thanks for letting me know guys! 8) ).

I've got half a side at this stage.. :roll: What is kind of disturbing is the pi$$-poor representation from the vast majority of Clubs within the Association. Of my half a side, the break down is ;

Rose Park - 3 players; Para Vista - 1 player; NEK - 1 player; Paralowie - 1 player & Morialta - 1 player.

Where are Frith, Gully, Vines, Tarca, A.Roling etc, etc, etc...?!???

We'll see what next Monday is like, but it's becoming increasingly harder to trot out a side in the SAMCA comp, both U21's and Seniors. Whilst the SAMCA tournament is a great challenge and some quality cricket played, I seriously question our ongoing involvement in it due to a distinct lack of interest from our stakeholders (players). The irony is that when/if it happens, the same people who failed to support it will whinge their a$$es off because it's no longer there.

And to be brutally honest, apart from catching up with some quality blokes last night, it was a complete & utter waste of my time. Hardly inspiring and I have to seriously question my involvement in this SAMCA stuff in future. The Carnival is one thing - where blokes are more motivated - but SAMCA is akin to banging one's head against a brick wall - which I could do in the comfort of my own at home... We'll see.

All bullshit aside, it's almost February and it's only just begining now, a lot of players are almost over cricket now, perhaps if it started in November there would be a greater interest, the SAMCA Cup is falling apart, 3 games plus a final, a bit late IMO.

Welcome to the current climate of T20 dominating the game. Fully agree with ya LM. SAMCA have lost the plot. A lot of players play in the 4 comps involved because they can't/don't want to dedicate the time that's required to play Grade cricket. I'll use my old mate Wizard of Oz as a classic example. No doubt he could still play Grade cricket, but family committments etc take priority for him now, so the last thing he wants to do is have his entire weekend taken up by cricket - defeats the purpose of playing in a 'less professional' comp - for use of a better term. ;)

As for the ATCA guys, I'm pretty sure the top division or two still play in what used to be the Brock Younger one day comp, as well as their own T20 comp. Plus inter-Association T20, and now the 40 over SAMCA stuff. Put plain & simple, it's far too much cricket for the average social cricketer. :?

Not a dig? Well what the bloody hell is it then? No need to step on egg shells old man, just tell it like it smasha would.. Fitzroy are shooting themselves in the foot by not giving him the opportunity higher in the batting while old blokes hold onto the dream (auto :P )

Im the team slut...wherever i am needed is where i go...

As for Super i would open him even if just for the future of our club. Having said that our 3,4,5 bats are already taken by young guys so i guess we gotta fit an old bloke or two in there somewhere.

I'm a big advocate for the PDCA to have one 12 man squad play one game against the Barossa league. We could find a venue with two grounds and play a senior and an U21 match on the day and then have an U16 & U14 match at the other associations double oval venue then alternate annually.
If there was only one game played I'm sure the best players would make themselves available, I used to have a blast playing a one off match with my regular opponents, I wouldn't have been so keen if it was a tournament.

I like that idea lightning it has some merit, but im a nobody and nobody listens to a nobody.

Maybe churches could have an allstar game, like the NBA/NBL, with the old churches teams versus the old independent central teams. Cheerleaders, hotdog vendors, loud obnoxious music everytime theres a time out....sign me up.

A smart and accurate post. Can feel your pain with SAMCA's decision on Sunday cricket. Why would you have a small hard wicket competition play the strongest turf side out of the SACA on a Sunday in February. As Bill Lawry would say 'That's completely lacking in logic'. What a waste of everyone's time and you wonder why more and more people are giving up cricket. Send them a message mate and do the unthinkable and forfeit!

Appreciate your support FW. Trust me, I've thought about it. ;) And rest assured if I can't assemble a side, that's precisely what might happen. Obviously not our preferred outcome, but if the support isn't there amongst the players, I'm not going to grovel & beg for people to make themselves available. If we can't scrape together a C&CCA Xl, a notified forfeit is definitely possible. Hopefully we don't cross that bridge... ;)

Don't worry LM, its all good. ;)

Happy where I am with my mates. Rather play with them than play with a bunch of people I see every couple of days. Are you guys still that sour down there?

And you were right about one thing in your post thats for sure.
