Sure he is exciting when he fires but player of the year? 207 runs with highest score 157 wheres the consistancy

You just throwing out random comments looking for a bite? back to back seasons of over 300 runs & 25 wickets?! Held his own in the assoc games, very handy fielder. Id say he more than deserves to be on that list, especially if your going to put reidy on the same list!

Top three would have to be Marshall,Baldo and Reidy

wright hit more runs and took more wickets then Baldo.... dont rate him?

You didn't, two and a half weeks ago.. :p ;)

Marshall, Baldo & Wright, for mine. Marshall #1 because he's been a rock all year with bat & ball. Baldo #2 for his lion-hearted efforts with the ball in taking out the Div 1 Bowling trophy, plus his beligerent 157no in Rnd 2 off about 50 balls. Wright $3 because it's been a breakout year for him, scoring 2 tons, taking 23 wickets, being a livewire in the field and speaking 7 times as many on-field words as his closest rival (only coz Ace didn't play many matches.. ).

Auto takes out the DGB Award.. ;)

No no no, Ive always rated his bowling but didnt feel he was strong against a good attack but after seeing first hand how he batted against us and batted in his second association game I swallowed my words. We are talking player of the year here, not 'bowler of the year who also hit a great ton' :P

MM I am not talking about his batting that is a bonus. He is the best bowler in the comp by far.

Yes Onion ol' bean, and bowling is one of several important facets of the game. ;) When you can pole up for 23 wickets in Div 1 and smack a ton off 50-60 balls, you'll get the kneeling pad treatment too.. :p

For the record, calling it a "great ton" does it a bit of injustice really. Not only was it made in unbelievably quick time, 96 of the 157 came in sixes alone! Not just boundaries - there were 9 of them - but 16 sixes! Then you factor in his side was 7 down and still 102 runs short of the target when he went into bat, and when he was dismissed his side was 85 runs past the target and he'd scored 157 of the 189 runs since he went into bat (83%). Add that all up and it's probably the most amazing ton ever scored in C&CCA history and will duly go down in folklore as such.

Maybe ask some of Baldo's teammates of the bloke who hit 213no in a day at Vista's ground. 100 run partnership with number 11 who made about 11. Now there was a knock lol

Mills is a gun no doubt. Just a very interupted year. Only 150 runs in div 1. The ton in the lower grade was against lower standard team. Lee would be looking for a big GF this year.

Im not doubting it was a great ton but when talking of player of the year, we arent talking about the noble efforts of one man in one game. We're talking about an entire season. I dont doubt his bowling abilities

A ton is a ton. regardless of what grade you play. Lee is a great batter, very sweet timer of the ball. I would have him in any top 6 even after an interupted year

recruit of the year:- Travis Uern - single handedly kept Enfield in games, even more spectacular given Onion spent most the season with his head between Travs thighs :P
most disappointing recruit of the year:- Onion Laird - Big bucks paid to bolster the Enfield A grade and just didnt quite deliver, also lost his cricket australia contract :P
IPL million$$ star recruit - Baldo!! need we say more..
Most disappointing club:- Paralowie.. all the rage in the off season of big things yet struggled to field a full side consistantly.
Most disappointing team:- Central Mission - scores that looked more like golf rounds!!
Fading star of the year:- Pidge!! couldnt shut the bloke up last season when he had a good one, havent heard boo out of him this year, caved into pressure & expectations? :P
Annoying pest that just doesnt seem to go away - THE PHANTOM!!! geez i leave the comp and u mugs still cant get rid of me :D

Noble?? WTF?? A "noble" ton would be one grafted out in a day by someone as boring as bat shyte in a side that still fell 150 runs short of their target! You'd have to be the only bloke within the Sth Australian cricketing fraternity that I know that would refer to a 60ball innings of 157no, littered with 16 sixes & 9 fours, as "noble"!!! I want the contact details of your dealer.. ;)

Anyhow, that's my opinion on Player of The Year, regardless of who agrees with it or not. ;) FYI, I selected Baldo for his bowling, the "noble" ton was just a bonus.

@ Phantom - nice work mate, you've snuck 2 ex-Clubs and one 'touted' Club into your 2009/10 honour roll.. ;)

I'm no star Phantom. I'll never be as good as you are
I thought this season i'd try my hand at being an All-rounder ;) and i might add, i still don't have an average in B's or C's.
I do win one award though... Catch of the season.

Team of the season: Clearly Fitzroy B's. Led superbly by Auto. Started the season slowly, but have hit their straps and have been rewarded with a finals performance.
It's Somma Time!
