Why wouldn't the SCA use the Noarlunga forecast? seems strange to me.

Booney wrote:I put this to you all.

If Saturday is forecast as just 39,on the back of 3 consecutive 40+ days should the assosciation take matters into their own hands and call the days play off?

I think it should. For this is an exceptionally long period of high temperatures and some captains, ( I for one ) would be looking to discuss the cancellation of play with my counter part, purely for the welfare of the team I lead. If I or any other captain wished to take this course and the opposition captain wanted to play I think it could get sticky. ( No pun intendid)

Thoughts?

Remember,we are two days from the moment that the forecast of 40 is required for cancellation. Things could change.

the barossa and light association made the descision to cancel all cricket on thursday for the reasons that you have mentioned booney. we have a heat rule of 40 but was felt it didnt matter 39 or 40 because of the extremely hot lead up. perhaps some other associations should have followed. we also have some of the best turf wickets in the state and can do without risking damage to these. the great man les burdett looked at them recently and said they were better than 90% of grade wickets. the association would love to see a ford ranger cup game in the district in the future given the very successful hosting of the australian country championships recently

I know it ain't your decision so please don't think I'm having a go at you, but that's the most ridiculous decision made by the SCA in years.

I have spoken to guys today who are playing A1 Turf and they are not happy about playing. It's easy to forget that not everyone has all Friday night and Saturday morning free to hydrate and prepare adequately. Some guys have to work and are really not in the best position to be properly prepared even if they want to. Should be all grades called off. As has been stated grades reflect skill not fitness. I just hope none of my mates get too badly affected.

I agree, if it's too hot for some - it's too hot for ALL. The fact that these guys are better cricketers doesn't mean they are more heat resistant than everyone else???

On Adel Turf thread apparently catchit was saying a young lad from Hope Valley was taking away by ambulance because of the heat in A2 grade.
Also spoke to a couple of Kilburn players and they said that they were being refused glasses of water from the guy behind the bar, he would of sold them one, but Hope Valley still had no drinks for players, drinks only were supplied during the drinks breaks, not between them! absolutely ridiculous!!
On the hot weather, i personally would of called saturday off, only because we had a whole week leading up of 40+ weather, different if we had a once of day of 40 degrees for a saturday.

That is clearly not acceptable. Should not have ot pay for water, that is ridiculous especially i nthe heat. If clubs are going to act like that they should be taken to task. That is disgusting.

I feel for the guy from Hope Valley, hopefully he is ok.

I know his service and attitude sounds unacceptable, by why would you go play cricket in that heat without any of your own drinks ?
