I was there watching the game and the answer is no. Seaford and Cove have good rivalry and both teams would want to win the right way. Can't believe people are talking about playing cricket this way really...[/quote]

The problem is the run up's that were ment to be completed when the new pitch went down prior to xmas. This did not happen and is planned for next season.

Also cockeys are almost gone and the maintance of oval is in full gear.

So what you are saying is that the oval isnt in a suitable condition to play a game of cricket on??

No there has been games of cricket played on it every Wed night and every Sat morn and arvo.

But when you are looking for the best ovals to play finals and you only require 3, the RUN UPS are not to the standard that we expect.

Aren't the run ups in bad condition because of the constant training that takes place on them tues/thurs plus games on Wednesday and Saturday? The situation is almost unavoidable with the new style of matting being put down, which other clubs will find out about in the next few years, there is no point training in the nets on old style mats when your playing on the new ones. All the ovals will be terrible to bowl on once these new mats go down on all ovals.

hey dilligaf you say bubner and macgiver had days out if you look at the score of 317 you would have to say the only ones to have days out were the cove batsman.S Titternan batting was great to watch but still got told he cant bat from the biggest wanker in the scl when he got to a chanceless 100 smart comment.

Probably a good thought DH, but unfortunately the councils seem to have control over the major grounds, and it's already obviously too hard to scrape sand off the cement once a year, I doubt they'll wanna lift and re-turf run-ups too. The money they are saving on laying this crap, and ruining our ovals, will probably be spent narrowing our roads and putting in another 25 round-a-bouts. Play at Happy Valley and see what happens to this sh**t surface if it's been in a while and not maintained.
