Rambers bowled out Plympton in last over of the day for 177 on a slowish Joans Pantry oval. A few dropped catches late gave them a few extra runs. Habib batted....and batted......and batted....and batted...for about 72 overs for 60 or so runs. Never seen a bloke pick out the fielders so well. With any luck the council will cut the grass and a solid batting display will see us home.

After looking at the scorecard Habib didn't bat for 72 overs, but it was a bloody long time either way.

hehe, that's it - we leave it all out on the field. Might give the Woolshed a miss... had 12hrs sleep last night trying to shake this cold and still feel buggered.

Congrats to Hopkins, that's a hell of a score.

As for the Ramblers v Plympton game, that was my first trundle on the new pitch and I was quite impressed. Comes off a touch slower but its consistent - as is the bounce. Hard to know if 177 is enough - time will tell.

Mate, I've got no time for sickness. We bat to 10, sorry Roseboy, so 177 is not enough. We lose this and we wouldn't deserve to play finals.

McCormack batted all day for 123 against WOS, chasing around 240. Some very tired boys at the Marion Hotel tonight.

ours isn't much better but we just seem to play it really well... 244 would be 300 plus the week before at mitchell park... and the sarge would have got 150. well done to hoppy... not any easy deck to bat on up there must have played well

It is all good n well calling it a disgrace but why is it a disgrace?

Congrats to Brendan and Hoppy on fantastic knocks on the weekend. Hoppys knock was certainly the best display of hitting(for so long) once he got the hundred up i have seen.

No it isn't an easy deck to bat on. The new coromandel deck is very rubbery and the bounce is so inconsistent and that is what made it quite difficult to bat on.

Can i please have clarification on a rule here guys. If a wide goes for 4 runs, is it deemed as 5 runs? One for the wide and the boundry. or just four runs? Had a quick look in the rule book and couldnt see it.

Very soft statement. If you want to make runs, you don't hit the ball to the fieldsmen all day. The grass was long but not as long as it has been. Don't expect it to be much different next week. It happens every year, slow before christmas and quick after it when the water dries up - the North Haven boys might remember the long grass in the one dayer last year. From what I hear it is a much better surfce to play on than the dust bowl of Plympton at the moment.

As others have said, some actual feedback on what's wrong with it would be good. Yes the grass is quite lush and the ball needs to be hit well to reach the boundary. But, and I don't think I'm alone here, I'd take being able to dive for the ball knowing I'm not going to tear skin from my limbs before a ground with a lightening quick outfield.

The ground is safe, pretty flat, new pitch, thick grass, beautiful surroundings and enjoys a fair bit of shade late in the day. I love the gorund. I'm biased, I admit that, but a bit more info with your criticism might help.

Then you can come to WYC and you can have the best of both worlds, lightning quick and very safe to dive on :) .
