Can't judge a whole club on a few idiots! They take their cricket pretty seriously but don't mind having a laugh too. There are still some solid clubs in PDCA, mind you there are some that ae a joke. Was a good game today and was a great spectacle!

Yeah I know what you mean, one thing I will say though is this type of competition is great though and can only benefit suburban cricket in this state.

Well done to Hodson, class act.

Thanks mate, was happy to score a few against them, they bowled pretty well.

Spot on Skywalker.

Yep, some major heckling going on, and no doubt the line was crossed by some. But it appears there are some from the Para Vista camp that are a little thin skinned and aren't hardened to footy type crowds.

Para Vista have always been a professional club, as they were setting those standards nearly 15 years ago when I last played against them.....but have never had that crowd backing, nor has the Churches comp been renowned for tough crowds.

I'll leave it at that, as when you narrow it down to whats important, it was a fantastic game of cricket. Would love to take those boys on in a 2 day game though.

Ahh, I knew I'd played against you in the past Oz', just couldn't figure out where.. :? Thanks for filling in the gap. ;)

Yep, Salisbury West came over to Churches in the mid-90's with a lot of arrogance and wah-wah about how they were gonna dominate the comp and 2-3yrs later went back to PDCA with no silverware and their tails between their legs.. ;)

Mind you, the games between PV and SW were fiercely contested and some great cricket played. We both played it hard, but apart from the 2nd skipper they had (Joe Flogpot or whatever his name was..), they were mostly a good bunch of lads. Used to enjoy playing against Glen North, going hard on the field and having a chinwag and a laugh afterwards. And who could forget Grigoul and his straw hat?!? What a target that thing was.. ;)

Shame that a few dickheads had an impact yesterday. Well done to both Clubs for putting on a great contest.

Yep, I was just a young punk back then. You beat us in the GF the first year in an epic game. We dropped a catch when you were 9 down that would've won us the game. The chap that dropped the catch never played another game of cricket after that.

Simon Janetzki was a fantastic cricketer...

In 20 years of cricket i have never seen a team behave like SW did yesterday. On the field an outgoing batsman was hip and shouldered, and twice a stump was thrown in the direction of an umpire. And as suggested earlier, the stump was picked up and thrown not taken out to effect a run out! As for being thin skinned, we had a bottle thrown at a player and then told the next one is coming at his head, not to mention the guy holding a baby telling the fielder he's going to stab him in the back! Cricket's not a gentlemans game in the para districts!

To be honest, the GF you speak of is a bit of a blur mate, so I'm glad you remember what happened.

The semi final the year after I remember clearly though. Played at Modbury Heights, we had to chase down 190. I was the 6th wicket out with the score 6/60. We passed the total 6 down - Nottage (keeper) and Janetzki put on 130+ for the 7th wicket and we belted Morialta in the GF. You guys had us on toast until it started drizzling, then because of your tardy over rate and us finishing the minor round on top, your skipper decided to get through the overs rather than bowl us out, pushing the field right back and allowing our 2 batsman to get themselves in. Then the skipper brought the field in as we got closer to the target, but the 2 batters were 'in' and hit over the infield to get us the win.

I remember playing you guys at your home ground in the first season and you had some dude who looked like a surfie who sent them down reasonably swiftly, but sprayed them all over the place. One of our guys (Simon Wundersitz) was using an Indian bat - back before they became popular - and from ball one he was copping it about his 'chipboard bat'.. Unfortunately he holed out on 95, but not before tearing the SW attack apart.

Ahh, good times. ;)

LOL wouldn't expect anything less than this kind of response.....thing is if we had reacted to any of the things that had happened it would of been on for young and old! And your side would of been whinging blaming us for it all. Just cuz you got a bit of a shock that your competition isn't as far ahead of ours as you think!
At the end of the day it was a great game seen by all, the way i see it is we went home with our heads high....

I don't believe you. We played against them last season at Salisbury West and copped a fair bit of crap as we were getting beat. I couldn't see any of their players hip & shouldering outgoing batsmen or throwing stumps, sure they get a few drunken banana's carrying on a bit over the top but the rest of your allegations I just couldn't see happening.
