Our off Spinner has hit a batsmen on the foot on the full we've appealled not out. The umpires said to the bowler it hit him in line but its missing off stump? I know there neutral umpires but why do some persist on giving reasons its not out just say. I know if I have an appeall given not out I dont even ask its not out thats the decision but still some try and give me a reason when im walking past without me saying a word.

Just a point I know there short but there not helping by putting themselves in the spotlight all the time.

What arm bowler was bowling, and what hand was the batsman? It should be assumed if the ball hits the batsman on the full that the ball is going straight-on, and so therefore if struck in-front then it would be going on-to hitting the stumps and therefore out.

But really the umpire could be correct, because if it were a right arm bowler to a left hand batsman (or the other way around) or even if it was a right handed bowler around the wicket to a right handed batsman (or the other way – left to left around the wicket) the umpire could think that even-though the ball has hit in line, it could be sliding past the off stump and therefore not-out.

incorrect there mate. If you are hit on the fall, it is therefore assumed the ball is going straight on from the angle. So if you have ran in as a right hand bowler over the wicket, bowled to RHB, hit him on leg stump on the full, when he is going forward, its not out. as the angle of the ball (as you take it that its going straight on the angle it hit the batsman) would be missing leg stump. didnt explain it the best but think you will get my explanation

Lucky Singh was the big loss for us at the start of the season, think we won every game Heath didn't play.

had lucky against us, we lose. simple i think. i rate lucky as the best bowler in the comp, and i know a couple others do from the WYC.

Yeah I get you explanation, but what is the actually definition of going “straight on” Is the straight on the angle or straight towards the stumps?

A good way to start game number 150. I just hope we put up an equally impressive effort with the ball.

?? I'm lost smithy.

As you may know, I was captain of the ICC sharks for it's first couple of seasons.
We scored over 400 against Mitchell Park, whose captains behaviour was the worst I have ever seen on the cricket field.
His behaviour filtered out to the other players who thought it was ok to act poorly.
I made several reports from that match and all I got at the tribunal was a grilling as to why I felt the need to bat so long and make such a large score.
The captain, who didn't bother turning up to the tribunal got 6 games but 2 on appeal.
He lied at the tribunal and was overheard admitting such by Ron, who told me later, yet the committee still focused on the score we made rather than the behaviour of the opposition.

Hopefully we can.

In all honesty though, we rocked up thinking cove were idiots after our t20 game. From before the toss they were good blokes. It was good friendly banter on the field and also had a couple cartons between us on the field, it was a good day to spend with cove (cricket aside).

Does help when you make 419 haha yeww what a day
