Does anyone here know if Fielke is still fixing bats these days? If so, would anyone have his contact details? Tried looking him up on the white pages but the search didn't bring up his details.

He is currently playing B grade and opening the bowling and pushing hard for an A grade game in my opinion.

It only messes up the stats when someone consistantly plays at a lower level rather than playing at a level that tests their skill. As an example - are Gus Holding's runs now any easier to come by given his age/reflexes etc than they were playing A grade 30 years ago? I dont think so - its all relative. I also dont believe club cricket was better 20 years ago than now. I dont think you can say that with any real certainty. I know some of the old timers will disagree... :D

Sorry mate but figures are not equal no matter what grade you play. We have players with impressive figures but played the majority of their games in the b's or c's. Look at Falconer for you guys last season, played grade 8 or something like that and is getting A grade gigs this season.
We have blokes that refuse to go up to the A's no matter how they are going in the B's, sad but true. Sure, you have some scope for Gus, he is a rare case though.
The state of cricket in the PDCA was a hell of a lot stronger twenty years ago, there was no respite after the opening bowlers came off like there is now, there wasn't blokes batting 11 and not bowling, everyone had to earn their spots back then and everyone had a job to do in the team.

easy, the guys that have been there since the first game are doing the job and it is hard to get into a side that has scored 300 a couple of times, keep bowling out sides, and are undefeated...

first change going forward and maybe pushing up the order in one dayers
