Jarrad McLeod 47.5 overs, 14 wickets @ 2.2 runs an over
Luke McLeod 41 overs 7 wickets @ 2.1 runs an over

Im told both of these young men(Jarrad being only 17) have said they will play A grade if selected. Both bowl with great control and can swing/cut the ball where they desire with great effect yet cant break in to A grade team that hasnt won a game. Can someone from Enfield other then myself tell me how this is so? And also post stats and reasonings regarding the continued re-selection of under-performing bowlers? Jarrad will be representing the Association Under 21's and has results to back him up yet it seems his not even being considered at all for a call up.

NEK will gladly take these young guys if they want to play Div 1 cricket!, poaching aside haha, every season someone seems to have a crack at enfield and how they pick their teams etc. what's the go down there?

I can't answer your questions, but i will join the chorus, i think Jarrad in particular should be playing up there! Looking over the A grade side their are a few who must surely come under scutiny and IMO that includes the captain Miller.

Too long has the hopes ridden on Adam Gully to bare the brunt of the bowling, time to start building for the future and look for the next crop coming through, give them the chance, at worst they will get punished, gain some experience and go back down a grade knowing what standard they need to be at to do well at the higher level.

I know a lot of Enfield people read this forums and no doubt ill cop some backlash  but i don't really care, honestly when was the last time the A grade there was competitive? When was the last time they posted competitive totals and built partnerships? Obviously something is going wrong and needs a change.

Cuz has held most positions at the club on and off field roles and is currently president and captain. Reading the fossils reminisce early about clubs disappearing it is largely due to Cuz’s passion and single-mindedness ( happy goat!!) that PV is in such a strong position.
A great bloke and friend he captaincy has improved in recent years since he decided to bowl me more. Well more than the last captain we had.

Good luck tomorrow Cuz

Well said reggie. 8) Although I did prefer 'stubbiness' to 'single-mindedness... :p

I'm priveleged to call Cuz a good mate of mine and ultra-proud of his on-field and off-field achievements for both PV and The Association. If more people showed the passion, 'stubbiness' ( ) and committment he has for the Association, it'd be a better place to play.

Although probably not comprehensive, off the top of my head his cricketing achievements have been;

- Team bowling aggregate award
- Team batting aggregate award
- Club fielding award (many)
- Association fielding award (multiple)
- Club Vice-Presidency
- Club Presidency
- A Grade Club Captain
- Premiership Captain
- Association Captain
- Dual All-Australian

My apologies Cuz if I've missed anything.. ;)

I guess one of the main reasons I can sit back now with pride on what Marc has achieved thusfar is because I played a major part in pushing hard for his elevation into the A Grade back around 96/97, after he had come through the ranks, starting out as a young fella. I have been priveleged to have witnessed first hand; his maiden A Grade ton (still a PV A Grade opening stand 220-odd); his first premiership as PV skipper (2009/10) and both of his All-Australian selections, once as his skipper and again as his Coach.

As far as I'm concerned, there are five legitimate 'Club Legends' in PV's 31yr history, and Cuz is one of them (the other 4 being John Dolling, Jeff Eckermann, Graeme Tscharke & Simon Janetzki).

Para Vista's fortunes could've waned significantly when JD handed the reigns over to Cuz, both on and off the field, but majorly due to his tireless efforts over countless hours, and thanks to a quality support crew on the Club Exec in more recent times, the Club has continued to be successful.

Congratulations on reaching the 200 game milestone mate! All the very best for tomorrow and the future. 8)

Herder that was bloody beautiful! Dont know if its the polland in the air or the sympathy pregnancy symptons but i nearly teared up!

Congrats to cuz, amazing achievement and a great bloke to boot. I think people don't realise how good a bloke and passionate he is until they really get to know him, obviously he loves a sledge and can come across as arrogant, but i love him :D

Also when you mention the work he has done around PV, he has clearly done a wonderful job, PV have remained as a powerhouse, still a strong united club and present themselves with a degree of professionalism that sets them above the rest. Being a President or executive of a club is a tireless, unforgiving job and so many people have no idea how much work, time, effort, stress actually goes into successfully taking on a role like that.

Pretty sure cuz ran the footy tipping for the comp as well didnt he?

Well written Reggie. I have known Cuz for over 20 years now and he is the reason i am out at Para Vista and one of the main reasons i am still playing Cricket. Cuz good luck for the rest of this year and don't change the way you play cricket for anyone. Alot of the credit should go Marc for where we are today as a club and a Association.

this is how it is from my view..Every game except 1 we have bowled teams out for under 150 so its not our bowlers that arent doing the job..its our batsmen that are letting us down bcoz in my view a team should be able to chase down 150 9 times out of 10 so in reality we should be 3-1 instead we are unfortunately 0-4 .The A Grade are aware of the batting problems and are trying to fix them but there is not much you can do when there is no real depth in the B Grade batting stocks and C grade for that matter so all we can do is try and do our best with what we have available.

There is no doubt the young Mcleod's boys have heaps of talent and years to come be very good bowlers but who are they going to replace in the A Grade when you have Gully,Miller, Hill,Vikas,Woolcock and Reynolds(who would you drop out of these??)

From what i have seen this yr the Grade 2 is twice as good as Grade 3 which is very poor standard this yr it must be said so there would have to be questions asked whether the Macca boys would be able to take the huge step up to the next level???..but after saying that there is no doubt in my mind if at round 6 or 7 we are still struggling to win games then changes will be made and we will start giving the young lads a chance to play A grade cricket.

PS.Please dont get mad at me Mr Green..i couldn't help myself

OBB..

Put into perspective, how many games have you played at your home ground? Terama is generally very spongey and slow and is a large field. Id be comfortable defending 150 - 175.

As for the bowlers, i dont think woolcock or reynolds are A grade Bowlers, I havent seen hill for a couple years but he never really set the world alight, and no offence to Miller (C) but i think he has plenty to learn with the ball and really doesnt do anything with it, and tends to bowl too full.

Let your batsman (Woolcock, Reynolds) concentrate on batting and pick bowlers to do the bowling.

Also you ask who to drop, id start with Simon Arnold, he offers nothing but mediocre keeping. Also your two openers have done NOTHING.

Craig Davids is getting long in the tooth but still quality, and builds and innings is batting too low IMO.

Lambe? Dont know who he is but another whose made NO runs.

No offence Phantom but how many games have you seen us play this yr?? Craig Davids is opening the batting and has been our best batsmen this yr so not sure where your getting you info  as for Simmo not 100% sure but i think he got dropped for R.Fattori who has been batting well in the B's to boost our batting.

well if you have already lost 4 in a row , then why cant you give the kids a go now? if you dont know who to drop then talk to the captain , thats what his job is. the problem you may face is if you dont give the young guys a chance then perhaps they may start looking elsewhere, we always say play as high as you can when you can but seems like they are not getting the chance..IMO

Smasha old son..im only guessing so you will have to get Mr Green to come out and explain?? where are you Mr Green??come out where ever you are  it is fair to say our season is on the line this game so i would assume that we are fielding our strongest side possible this wk which doesnt include the Macca boys just yet..if they were batters they would be in the A grade straight away.

Phantom..you do make a very good point about Terama and could well be right..we will find out the answer after this game up at Seaton which is a very quick ground if our bowlers can bowl them out for a reasonable score..im ready to do a Baldo this game (9 wickets and a century).. i can only dream.

I was speaking to a mate that plays for Prospect about the pitches yesterday and he reckons that the ball bounces all over the place and that the A Grade batsmen cant bat properly on it so it might not be the ball that you were using Carey after all but im sure you tampered with it somehow  but that doesnt explain how you were bowling powder puffs on Sat to bowling Hand-Grenades on Wed night??? ;)

i'll explain it to you mate, friday night i had a free pi$$ show and pulled an all nighter so with no sleep at all feeling like i'd swolled a full ash tray i rocked up to cricket add to this it was raining, the ball was f_(ked and the run up was like the ice arena is a huge reason why i had to bowl within myself sat.

i also enjoy bowling on turf a hell of a lot better than hard wicket and would love a full season of turf.

but saying that when i batted it was very true, even bounce and good carry so i'm not sure why there A grade batsmen complain about there nets although if you look at prospects A grade results after recent times it probably explains a bit.
