Comments anyone ?
What indications were given? We know there will be no 'superleague' next season, but I dont see how a 2 division comp would work - 1 because the un even number of teams and 2 its pointless sides playing each other every 3 games. It still does nothing for the 'quality' of the cricketer.
What is happening is some clubs are becaoming far more professional on and off the field. The Jnr set ups/coaching and the standard and methods of training are far different from 3-5 years ago. This hopefully means the younger talent develop further and quicker to increase the standard of not only the grade comp but our state stocks as well. It will take time for these kids to come through though and the clubs that arent seen to be adopting the more professional approach should be punished.
I dont want to bad mouth Port (I think they have done a great job in turning there club around to an extent) but from what i have witnessed, they have slipped again in regards to there lower grades and jnr set up. Some examples that arent good enough for any district club at any level are: they cant fill an under U/16 white side, they had a kid who plays U/14s play D grade along side 5x30+ year olds of average physical fitness and cricket ability, they filled their BankSA side with girls (no disrespect to the females and good on them for playing) and the U/16 reds warmed up with 2 kids having no shoes on (many werent in club attire also)......
