Opened the batting got out for 10.....

Tried the Matty Wade defense tactic to the short ball off Joel Durnford (as quick as any bloke I've ever faced), let's just say I have one hell of a bruise on right tricep and lower arm (left-handed batter)

I copped a bad decision......... umpire gave me out despite only my middle and off stump being cartwheeled ten metres back...

Did take 4 wickets however so happy with that.

Booleroo are like many clubs up here.....proud of their cricket history and one of the few non merged teams their town has. Struggle for players however heavily relying on the old boys (40+) to still go around and make up the numbers. They even used a few city boys quite reqularly when they didnt have ATCA games on.

Take on Pekina this week….. for those who don’t know much about the place it’s the home town of Mick Redden who was a star cricketer back in his day. Now a lot of the team is made of Bowman’s………the sons of ex Norwood footballer Lachy Bowman. Great bunch of lads.

Loved playing against Pekina @ Pekina, especially as the pub was still open in those days (assuming it's shut once again?). I used to open the batting against Mick Redden and he certainly didn't hold back on the 'chin music'!

Pekina pub is still open and has been the 3 years I’ve played against them.

Definite an experience once a year, not sure I could play all home games there. Very unique give the current WHS world we live in.

Spalding won the toss for the fifth consecutive week having no hesitation in batting.

Started off well 0/30 odd at 4 an over.....

Then went from that to 5/60 and looking in trouble. As has been the theme for Spalding all year though is the ability to have blokes all the way down to 11 chip in within runs and this happened again. All out in the last over of the innings for 132... felt it was probably about 20 below par.

Pekina have 4 gun with the bat but then it falls away quickly so early wickets were the key. Fortunately for us that happened taken 3 of their 4 guns all for ducks having them 3/6.

That enabled us to work from one end whilst gun and best bat in the comp Luke Bowman was still at the crease. Wickets continued to fall steadily until they were 7/48, then the moment it was done. Luke Bowman looking to get back on strike by running a second, mid pitch mix up and then he gets run out.

Spalding take the last two wickets in the next three balls and are the 2022/23 premiers.

That is what happens when you have the combination of blokes who are genuinely gun SA outback cricketers also playing alongside guys who are genuinely d graders.

It aint test cricket but geez its fun and makes for some stories.

BTW best of luck this weekend, no one deserves a premiership with his club more than you. Will be keeping a eye out on the scores over the two days.

Yeah so the Pekina lads invited us to the pekina pub for a few so we whacked the medals under shirts and went in there for a couple of hours

Then somehow back on the bus and not sure what way we took the hour drive back to Spalding but it was mahem!!!

Memory gets pretty hazy back at the Spalding pub haha
