I just want to play cricket. Not trying to prove anything. A little bit of heat is a minor inconvenience. It is a sumemrs sport. You can call me dumb if you wish, but I prefer it that way. If I was older and palying a lower grade maybe I would reconsider but I am only 32 and am confident enough in my preparation to be able to get through and help the side get a win.

Answer that question RW

Sorry I didnt read the whole thing.

I cannot answer that without being put in that situation to be honest. I would rather my mate be healthy than the win no doubt, but id at least want him to get out there and try to get in that type of health status first.

So basically the reaction would be that until you are sick keep playing. I would have thought prevention is better than a cure but there you go. Anyway you have made my point that more often than not players would be under pressure to play until they collapse or at least feel as though they are under that pressure. Exactly why a heat policy needs to be and is in place.

All I am saying it is unlikely it will get to that. I dont see the need for prevention at A1 turf level, we are old/young enough in a decent age range and most in a decent physical condition. Very unlikely any of what you guys are saying or sugesting is liekly to happen.

and when lead based paint was used on asbetos buildings whilst DDT was being sprayed over farmland. Ah, the good old days where the risks of smoking were not known and polio affected so many. Lets get back to the good old days where we didn't have sound medical advice to make us aware of the dangers associated with our actions. Hell, why not start conducting some nuclear tests at Maralinga again.

Surely one weekend of no cricket ain't going to hurt you, don't worry, you will get to play next week too.

If your so keen on playing, get your team and a few extras to play a game......

Same here. but I am much younger than you warrior and play a summer sport that I know it could be extreme. just take it easy and know when you have reached your limit. I both bowled and batted under these conditions and know when to call for assistance.

and for those that want to know the SACA has already canned the Junior and Women's games for this weekend. A decision on the Mens will be made tomorrow afternoon. IMO the C/D grades could be in doubt.

A1 Turf for AHOS CC.

I will not mind one it mate. Ican enjoy the air con and the beer afterwards mate. After saying that I want to play, I would be more devastated being in front of an air con with a beer having missed out on the game and hopefully the points aswell and some runs and wickets would be nice too. Hopefully a lot of overs.

who's your mate?

re the heat policy , i'm in the camp of the "we should play" but with drinks every 10 overs.
However, i recognize that opinions amongst players are so varied that it creates an awkward situation where say 1/2 the side wants to play and the other 1/2 dont - consequently the universal association heat policy seems to be the best option (even if i dont like it).

Wow its f**** hot. been playn for 20 odd years of senior cricket and the heat hasnt affected me to much but its bothered me. Its great to hear the old sayings ( toughen up, grow some balls, r u a girl etc etc) these are sayings i used to say. Some of us can handle the heat some cant. Do you want to field with 9 or 10 players if 2 of yours go down????

There has been a lot more players go down with the heat over the last few years some fatal, do you want to be the person that said im okay we should be playing only to have your mate next to you suffer badly and lets hope he survives.

The associations have a duty of care and some times the minority win over which in this case i believe if its cancelled is the correct decision, even if i think i can play

anyone who says toughen up and play 40degrees is problary tough but has no brains, say u have A1 to A3 play that 330 players, what are the chances 1 person isnt going 2 end up in hospital?

if they do choose to play how bout play 1st innings? i personaly could handle playing a match that i can still win but wen the teams past ur score there is nothing worse then them batting another 40 overs with nothing to gain
