carey wrote:Smasha in principle i agree with what your saying but the thing that really gets me is the lack of passion guys have to play in ass sides. Last year the coach had to ring around the night before games just to field an 11!

The point i make is whilst we all pick our best 11's etc etc the facts are we've never fielded our best 11 and probably never will through various reasons which is sad really.

For what its worth should the churches ever of fielded our best 11 i think alot of results whould've been alot differant.

but i do like the debate

I too like the debate.

Having had the privlege to represent the SACCCA last year, and having played a bit of rep cricket for rival comps, the Churches State comp far outweighs any others rivals association tournaments. For a very small fee, to take on rival states, on some of the best surfaces in the country, speaks volume for the National Championships. After speaking to a mate, who I'd previously played association with the at TVCA, he couldn't believe what a great chance the cricketers of the SACCCA have every 2nd year. So much so, he flirted with the idea of playing for Rose Park, just to get the opportunity to play in it next year!

I do hope Jeff Clarke (a walk in IMO) has a crack at it next year, but with the only chance of it being played between 27th December to the 31st, understand that lives and wives will never see any of the competing organisations at full strength. But for those thinking of having a crack at it next year, I thoroughly recommend it.

Agree 100% coug's

my honest opinion on rose park hmmmmmm.
mate, I do beleive they are the dark horse, they could win this season. imo. they have picked up a couple of new blokes and seem to play together really well. reidy, couger and sharky are still the ones to watch. but they deserve to be where they at moment , they are playing some good cricket and had a couple of lucky escapes. but yes they deserve to be in second spot and more than likely going to take top spot befre finals come....imo.

Just on young Zac. He did bat well to close out Vistas B (although undermanned) team. Kotos to him. Excellent cool head displayed. The idea of him playing U21, i think may help his development. He may be abit young but being around other young talent must help his.
There are two sides out there today, only one is playing cricket. Us of course.

I to agree with the timing issue but this whole div1 thing is crap.

So the Enfield coach agrees to terms with Greg Blewett to play at Enfield but come ass. time we cant pick him cause his div 2??? FFS give me a break look at the big picture div 2 players can still play.......

I am sure some of you people are slightly retarded.
I am saying you pick from div 1 first then pick from other divs after .....IS IT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND.
glad I am not on the committee to pick this assoc side , reackon I might punch a couple of people. CAREY you play div 2 so your saying if someone in div 1 is better than you you should still get picked first because you already played in the carnival ?
thats what is crap mate, if there are better players in div 1 one then they are first choice regardless who they are, if I put my hand up this year and someone is better than me then you pick them ....not hard is it. or do you want me to type slower.

greg blewitt in div 2 ....bahahahahaha.... did I ever say div 2 players cant play ? carey , your a good bloke but quite thick at times. sorry mate but as you say FFS , think about it mate, if we got all players from div 1 and 2 to turn up for trials or training, you , me, and a few others wouldnt even get a game mate. but dont worry you and your passion pop will still make the side because as always we will struggle for numbers for a little while yet....that is all....

How are they struggling mate? Have only lost 1 game all year and haven't even played at full strength yet.

Holland would make my carnival team every year smasha. So would you. division 2 players is a non argument, you take the best players. With people like Holland, Balneaves and Gully you know they can compete at the required level.

What i meant mate, is in the past they have struggled, i was trying to find out what has changed for this season. Love this debate about a carnival side and it isn't even the year. Carey are you going to move to Rose Park next season with your mates so you can make the team lol or will Paralowie move up to div 1?

I too am a great judge of cricket especially A grade cricket. Rose Park will finish the minor round top. However i do see them struggling under the pressure of finals cricket. NEK would be a very real chance of knocking them off. The Rose Park bowling relies too much on 2 bowlers, and Clarke in particular. Their batting relies too much on MacDonald holding the innings together while endless amounts of cross bats and slappers play the big shots. They hit way too many shots in the air and these big shots come with big risks, and could be their undoing in the pressure cooker of finals. This style is great in 20/20's and one dayers but in 65 over games in finals they may struggle.
This is just my opinion and of course i could be wrong but this is how i see it going at the minute. I wouldn't deny Rose Park any success either. Since coming into this competition they have not had a lot of success but have taking big strides this year and should be commended for improving their playing stocks. If they do win the big dance i will be the first to congratulate them and say well done.

just on young Zach..he showed maturity beyond his years the way he batted on the weekend..i think at one stage the run rate required would have been somewhere between 6-7 rpo so you could forgive him if like most 16yo cracked under the pressure but no he read the situation perfectly and played himself in by just picking up the 1's and 2's to start off with and then later on in the innings picking up the tempo when required to get us home in a close one!!

A few of our batsmen can learn from him how to go about chasing 114 runs

yep pretty much....
maybe I am old school , you know where div 1 was the best and div 2 was second best . hence you would pick from the stronger comp. but really dont care with the assoc side anymore. we shall see who is in and who is out when they pick the side , and when it goes to Melbourne next year then we will see players we havent seen for a long time.
good luck to the people who make the side this year , hope they have a really strong one as they are getting closer to be really competative. just lack a few more bats. end of rant  ;)

Thanks mate, when you talk about relying on two bowlers do you mean Bruce Gordon or Ralph? I have seen they have taken a few wickets each. I think i was told there other opener bowler has only played one game so far?
From what i can see on the website there batters are sharing the runs around?
