I think this would be a good squad to take away.

A darkhorse for selection could be D. Frick from Para Vista can bowl and bat and has played on turf before..

S.Giglio? Surely not  haha. Do they just give out association duties these days :P
I dont know some of these players, but for the ones ive played against, it seems like a pretty legit looking team i must say.

Hutchy i wont lie, i dont know whether to be scared or feel special you wanna be my best friend :?

as for the expert part well yeah your right there 8) I'd take Cossens 1st choice over the rest, proven at the level, has an all-australian cap and can play 5 days.
The concern would be whether he is prepared to run around for another carnival, he isnt getting any younger. Although if i was a gambling man, id say the chance to finally win a carnival this year (will be the best assembled side IMO in a VERY long time if not ever) might be just enough driving motivation for him to put his hand up again.

I know Frithy keeps and is a very good keeper, i would however be reluctant to take him as a keeper and opening batsman, great workload over 5 days is too much!
Giglio, sorry old friend, that ship has sailed :( i'd want a specialist keeper.
If cossens is a no go, then depending on availability and interest i would pursue Lee Mills.

I'd advise you to take nasal septoplasy more seriously mate. It affects over 0.005 people per 100,000 population. Not all people can afford to visit a doctor to reconstruct thier nasal passages. And the home kit isnt exactly fool proof.

I think you will find Cuz has two Australian Caps.

Mills is easily the best batsman/keeper going around, but do you really expect him to crack a ton then keep for 50 overs , 5 days in a row?
Not going to happen. If he wants in, then its as a batsman.
The question should be, do we take a specialised keeper at all or just take turns in doing it? I know in the past other teams have taken an extra batsman and just rotated the keeping. ( although its not unusual to see 30 odd byes in the extra's column.)

This is true Mr O2 Thief. A few of the interstate sides in Melbourne in 2008 had stop-gap keepers. The unfortunate part of that was that the deck on the #3 oval was virtually running along the ground and the straight boundary on one side was about 40m long (even PhantAm cleared it once!  ) and several of the other keepers let through in excess of 40 byes on several occasions on that oval! Cuz kept on that oval on the last day when it was at it's lowest and let through maybe 3 byes in total. But the highlight of his week was a brilliant leg-side catch standing up to the stumps to Dutchy's bowling against NSW B on Day 4.

When it came time for the selection panel (one from each state) to sit down to select the All-Australian side, where there were far better and unbiased cricketing judges than myself in the room, the position of keeper was 100% unanimous, with no other keeper even rating a mention in the voting. The Qld coach, who has worked for the QCA and with the Bulls during his career, stated that it was probably the best keeping he had seen for 20yrs in Carnivals. That's fairly high praise.. ;)

If Lee Mills wants to put his hand up, he'd be one of the first blokes chosen. I haven't heard anything from the NEK boys to suggest that Millsy is interested in touring unfortunately. He'd certainly be an immense asset in our middle order. Maybe Smasha can kidnap him and shove him in his suitcase?!? :D

Fitzies A grade got smashed making 90ish in reply to Vi$tas 240. We followed on and made 3/120ish. Auto was voted best looking player again at the after match presentations. Fitzies B's made 220 in reply to Vi$tas 250 and our C grade lost but nearly coulda won outright. On a bright note Pidge's younger sibling took a thousand wickets for the match.

I believe Baldo took 9 for today in a easy win for NEK. Ross Smith and Adelaide Lutheran played out an Abandoned Draw.
