Just looking for peoples thoughts, outside of the Mexicans across the border, Crossthwaite and Ludeman, who would the top 3 keepers in grade cricket ? From purely a gloveman, and also a batsman keeper ?

In that match, James Smith was denied the opportunity of a century in very unusual circumstances - caught off the umpire. On 91, he hit a full-blooded drive which hit umpire David Little on the leg and then rebounded to be caught by Matthew Sugg.
Very unlucky! (Both Smithy and Dave Little)

Tim Davey has been training with the squad all pre season and traveled to India as the back up keeper.

Would Brad Davis from Sturt be next after Davey? Has had a couple of very solid years of A grade cricket and started this year with 92, 35, <10, 75. Gun player and top bloke, not sure why he hasn't got a Futures game yet!

Round 3 wrap online:

http://wickettowicket.com.au/2011/11/08 ... -3-review/

And I reckon Davey would have to be clear in front as next long term keeper but ideally is 12 months from having to play.

So Woodville vs ET was officially abandoned before the game, yet they still played and then tied due to bad light?

I hate umpire bashing, but the TTG / Prospect game, with TTg at 1/80 off 11 or 12 chasing 117 was turning into a 8 or 9 wicket win in 16/17 overs until the darkness set in and the umpires did not even speak to the batsman about the light. That is the issue with giving non A Grade umpires an opportunity, they did not control the game. Fortunately TTG won with a ball or two to spare. Facing Delaney at 130 in the dark, put the umpire up there and I am sure he would have actually done something. Probably a couple of weeks too early to play T/20 at this time of the year. We learn something every year.

Similar issue with the Buffalos game with the u/19. Some kid bowls a chest high full toss first rock first or 2nd change(They are using the Chuck Berry method of opening with spin). The square leg umpire refused to call a no ball or even indicate to his counterpart that it was illegal. It didn't matter in the end as Adelaide scraped home with a ball to spare.

Also Kelvin Smith WOW

Don't spinners have to be above shoulder height to be a no ball for full tosses?

In the same game.. 19th over, as Adelaide needing a run a ball, the finish was always going to be tight. Umpires thought they would spice it up a bit with the old 5 ball over.. Dont like umpire bashing either, but fundamental errors like that deserve it
