Great win by Morphettville PK game played in good spirits and lots of us stuck around for the cove Crab cup good night. We had 20 runs penalised because apparantly last week our number 11 batsmen showed decent when being given out LBW where I was out there at square leg and he said your fxxxxg joking as he walked off. Nothing was said by the umpire last week or to either captain before the game this week he just decided to call all 22 players in as the first ball was about to be bowled and single out the one player and take 20 runs off our score without any communication or warnings at all.

i personally like keswick, especially some of the older fella's in the 2's (not sure if they even play still)... some great guys and never had any issues with the older fratenrnity.. always keen for a beer and a chat after the gme. however when i played the A's it was a different story, i was shocked between the 2 grades attitude, never heard so much dribble come out of there mouths while batting, i love a good sledge, but this was personal and really didnt make any sense. and every bowler thought it was neccessary to stare at you after every ball. pretty funny. but this was a couple of seasons back when they played at the postage stamp.

howevr im big on sportsmanship, and IF pfcc didnt shake hands, even if its just a couple of guy its pretty ordinary, regardless of what happened on field. would like to hear both sides of the sstory till i make judgement...

If it did happen then its dissapointing but its doesnt need a Royal Enquiry into it.

I'm sure the Keswick boys, apart from on here who thought it needed to be known to all and sundry, would not have lost sleep over it and have moved on. I assume that it would have been a talking point over a beer for around 5 minutes on Saturday night, and after that would not have been mentioned.

Don't worry ab, there will be alot more to come out of this for sure.
Whilst I don't commend dissent, this is a blatant case of over officiating. 20 runs is absolutely ludicrous. Smae umpire that cost us a game 5 years afo, and seems to have a real problem with the MPCC, which surprises me after he spoke to me at length in our clubrooms after the David Lee match last round. Very, very dissappointed.

I thought penalty runs were handed out in 5-run blocks anyway? Did he penalise you 4 times?

Yes. Should have been done week 1 when the "incident" happened. Swearing at oneself is not dissent, and if teams got penalised everytime someone swore audibly on the field we would see negative scores in some games.

If runs were actually removed from your total then I think thats wrong as well - you can only add them to the opposing team's total?

I think!?

ANA - O'Malley and Rowe to bowl them to their first win.

Hopkins made 13 and didn't take a wicket. We also won by plenty :D :D .

Good to see you back in the runs OSB. Your mob seem to be travelling along quite nicely at the moment. Dismissing sides cheaply and making some decent scores. You guys will be around the mark no doubt when finals come around.

Yes you are right, Cove were 0/20 without facing a ball, but I was being faceatious when saying we could have negative scores with all the swearing that goes on, on the field.

Very impressive performance from you blokes. I don't think I would've been alone in expecting a tighter game between the top two sides.
As for us, we have improved from last year but need to get better if we wanna play finals. Big game this week vs Morphy Parks. I'm sure Moe is looking forward to it

Question to everyone, how many times have you seen penalty runs given by umpires in this association? I only ask as I have only seen it used twice (both by the same umpire and both against the same club) so just wanted to know how often the umpires are using it.

Once in a T20 Plympton v Western Youth - WYC were penalized and it was rediculous. It was a funny tantrum that the WYC player threw (can't remember who it was), but not worthy of a penalty and the Ump in question should not even have got involved, but alas, he just enjoys getting involved so god damn much!

Haha that was funny. Plympton fella from the boundary lipping our wyc players, one of us bit back, 5 run penalty. Was a good laugh though

Andrew once told me the game was about him and not the cricket. I laughed and said "you're joking" he awarded a 5 run penalty. Also awarded another 5 for supporting our batsman from the sidelines. Good bloke that Andrew fella :)
