Shortest ever complete games

Postby Ecky » Sun Dec 17, 2006 11:28 pm

On Saturday, my team was unfortunately on the receiving end of quite a thrashing. We were playing in a 40 overs a side One-day Game in the SA Churches & Community Cricket Association.

We batted first, reached 3/40, then lost 7/1 to be all out for 41 off 20.5 Overs.
In response, our opposition reached our total off 3.5 Overs. The last over went dot wide 6 6 6 6 6: 31 runs!

So the game was completed in just over two hours. So I was wondering if anyone remembers any game of senior cricket which has been completed more quickly than this? I suspect that the time wouldn't be a record, but chasing down a total in 3.5 overs may well be.

PS We aren't usually this bad - we were actually on top of the ladder before this game!

When our club was competing in Independant Central we played a B grade semi-final against the then Norwood ANA club on the Airport Oval (Now Ikea). Not as bad as yours Ecky, but Norwood won the toss on the Saturday, batted the day out for 230 odd IIRC.We then fronted on the Sunday, having beaten them two weeks before the finals started, fairly confident of a win. With yours truly 8* and the team dismissed for 16,yes 16 we were all done and dusted in the 8th over.Phooey to finals.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

In under 14s a couple years ago my team on the first day made 210, and then the next week we bowled the opposition out for 17 off 5 overs, and then bowled them out again for out right points for 24.

Don't you need eight for a team......should have been a forfeit
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

About 15 years ago, Langhorne Creek bowled out Strathalbyn in an under 12 match for 1 run (a wide).
The opening batsman for L.Creek then hit a 4 off the 1st ball of their innings to secure the win.

The ironic thing about the original game mentioned on this thread was that the team that lost have made the finals, and the team that won missed out!

Record Low score recorded in port lincoln over the weekend in the A grade competion. Charlton chasing 140 to win were bowled out for 21 in about 9 overs. They were playing on a conrete pitch to. Charlton are sitting third on the ladder as well and the week before made 150 odd so its not as if they are hopeless. A full A grade side bowled out for 20 odd should never happen. You can probably understand real low scores when teams only have 8 players or its an underage comp. Needless to say the Local watering hole of the Charlton A grade made a bit more $$ than usual that afternoon.

Wasn' t the shortest game but remember many moons ago opening for Enfield A grade against Hove or someone similar, we got bowled out for 20 in about 6 overs, they batted most of the rest of the day and got about 250 and we were 4/6 at stumps, all out for around 40 the following week well within the hour. And funnily enough both opening batsman for us got king pairs   not one of my more impressive displays

I've been part of a team that has been bowled out for 13 and 14 in the space of a month.

I opened in the second of those innings and made 3* and watched 10 wickets tumble in about 8 overs

In the opening game of the season a few years ago I was in a team that was skittled for a lowly 37. We promptly took to the field to demolish the opposition for 20. A quick game is a good game

Played on an unprepared turf pitch years ago when we were bowled out for low 30's, thought we were in big trouble, then bowled them out for 27. In the bar by 2:30.

I know it is in the club records at our club that one of our one day sides in the ATCA competition back in the early 90's were bowled out for 12 in 6.5 overs and the opposition 'chased' down the runs in less than 3 overs.

Have seen scorecards displayed at other clubs where sides have been bowled out for less and the runs passed very quickly but can't remember the durations of these games off the top of my head.

similar story here, i played for elizabeth in the PDCA against salisbury north in grade 5, however their whole team won the div 1 comp the year before while player as bolivar, they batted all day and made 5 for 350 then bowled us out the next week for 33 and 44 before tea, i top scored in the first innings with 15, batting at #7.

ask me about the game i played in against big rudi mandamaker... another horror story. :D

played in a few, but one stands out in primary school about 7 years ago, we skittled a team for 27, with me taken a sensational 7/1 off 3 overs...we then went out to bat, and were 4/0 after the 1st over, with me stranded at the other end, i managed to help get us over the line after about 4 overs, but struggled and were 7 or 8 down when passing the score...crazy game
