Is the great man still around the traps ?

Not sure, I haven't seen him for quite a while, not that I am out there that often now that I am working most weekends.

Interesting stuff there RB.

When I lived at Richmond (05-07), I very nearly enquired about playing for RCP, as I was interested in playing AT.
I also played against them, back in 99/00 or 00/01- I remember having one of the best afternoon tea spreads ever.

A bloke I know used to play for them, & I believe he was a very handy opening bowler- Glenn White (?) (aka Peanut Butter Glen). I think a shoulder injury finished him off, & he took up vocal duties with punk bands.

RB-
why did RCP re-name itself Goodwood?
why did the original merger come about?
what was Richmond's home-ground?
Clarence Park's hg?
also, I can't remember where RCP's HG was, but I know it's oval was next to a baseball diamond- where was that?

Wasn't RCP's home ground at Lockleys Oval?

CPCC played out of Goodwood Oval PR.
I used to spend many a day there in my very early youth through my old man's involvement with the Club..

Anyway, 100 years up this year for the mighty Blacks: http://www.aucc.edu.au/portal/Home/tabi ... fault.aspx

RCP re-named itself Goodwood because going forward it was the belief of the club and most of the committee (understandably some of the traditionalists were not happy with the change) that renaming the club Goodwood Cricket Club gives the club more of a identity, with Goodwood a known area. further to this, with the ongoing success of the Goodwood Football Club it couldnt hurt to have the same known identity. Financially speaking it was seen as a good move in this regard as potential sponsors, particularly in the Goodwood area, may be more inclined to sponsor the club.

The amalgamation took place in the cricket season of 1993/94. The previous year saw Clarence Park finish at the bottom of the premiership ladder and was due to be relegated to A2. Richmond on the other hand did not perform much better and they were looking for a home ground.

Discussions about the amalgamation of the two clubs commenced and commonsense prevailed, with the decision to amalgamate to become the Richmond Clarence Park Cricket Club, with the home ground being Goodwood Oval.

ENFIELD UNITING CHURCH CRICKET CLUB formerly ENFIELD METHODIST CRICKET CLUB.

Club formed in 1928 so yes this year we will be celebrating 80 years.

with a club so old so to speak there is a hell of a lot of history, too much to place on here, this club over the years has had as many as 5 sides going around in Church Cricket now known I think as Churches and Community Cricket and of course too may premierships to talk about.

A few legends of the club, some on here may remember, Gordon Turner, the best by a mile, scored 13325 runs at a lazy average of 63.75. This guy was awesome and I had the priverlage to open the batting with him when I was about 15. Others that were around for donkeys years, some still are, Paul JOHNSTON (the shorts man), his late father who played until well into his 70's, Gordon Turners son Robin, who still plays now and again.

Over the years the club was fortunate enough to have a few "other sportsman" play for us.

Bruce LINDSAY (AFL and West Torrens Footballer) classic bastman (hit 160 in 19 overs one day)
Trevor CLISBY (NAFC Premiership player) bloody dangerous bowler and well just a tonker with the bat
Alex LUNN (Woodville footballer) hopeless opening bowler, but knew how to bat, priverlaged enough still to hold a record 5th wicket partnership with Alex since 1986 against our arch enemy Adelaide Lutheran)

Many others as well, the club is still going strong with 4 sides.

Hopefully in the New year I will have time to put alot together of this great club and have a web site with acheivements etc but it is going to be a huge job

The mighty West Torrens District Cricket Club commenced as the Hindmarsh Cricket Club in 1862 and was a foundation member of the SACA. Our history has been written by the current Club Historian, Dennis 'Rocca' Brien.

No was in retirement then Mal, so missed that score, think that 449 has now been beaten by good ol Enfield a year or two back when they scored close to 500 (I may be wrong however), damn Croydon hate them more than anything, always used to flog us

My club, Hilton Palmyra, play in the South Metropolitan CA in Perth and turns 60 years old this year (and I have been there 6 months!).

We have all five of our senior sides in the finals this year - my side (4th XI) made it by just 0.24 of a point ... a wicket and a boundary over the course of 14 rounds! We started the last round in 6th, the 4th placed side lost outright to 7th and 2nd belted 5th so we have juuuuuuust made it!

I bat at number 9 or 10 and have a grand total of 89 in 9 hits this year (HS 32no) and am a "secret weapon" first change medium pacer (used to open the bowling in Melbourne, but I work better with a slightly scuffed ball) with 17 wickets at about 20 this season.

I think Richmond Cricket Club had Richmond Oval (Broadspectrum Oval) as there home ground years ago just at the start of Doug Thomas' era at the helm of the bloods. They were left homeless after the pitch continued to be soaked before games and too many games were abandoned from wat i hear. Redandblack would no more?

Unley Cricket Club started in 1975/76 and was know back then as Unley High Old Scholars C.C. The first ground they used was at Unley High School and then in the early 80's they moved to Kingswood Oval.

this is a link to a Honour Board which will show our flags. I have played there since 1991/92 as a 16 year old, now into my 17th season at the club.
