We lost in the last over. WE set a very competitive 217 I think it was and were bowled out in the last over. They chased htem and got them with tw oballs to spare. Was very sad and embarrassing to lose. They were not bad cricketers we played against but we did let ourselves down with basic errors.

We did however have the following issues:
1. As you mentioned Shark Hunter Willsy pulled out Saturday night with a hamstring and we had to try to find a replacement at late notice.
2. One bloke didnt rock up and we were lucky a bloke from the Gepps Cross team we played the day before came to see a mate and he luckily lived not far away so we got him into the side.
3. I think another person pulled out too.
4. Played on hard wicket with a two piece ball that I personally found hard to control at times even though I didnt bowl badly, jsut too many legside wides due to the ball swinging the wrong way and ridiculously when my action was not upright enough.

Anyway Para Districts deserved the win they batted well and if htey took their catches probably should have beaten us more convincingly.

As I said we are disappointed.

Nothing against the blokes who put their hands up to represent the ATCA this season - they at least had the guts to get out there and give it a shot. But I'd like to know how the best XI players would go in these games. Would imagine they could even give a few A grade district sides a run for their money. Just think:
1. R Singh (Pembroke)
2. Ozolins (AHOS)
3. Higgins (Grange)
4. Smith (Gepps Cross)
5. Mosey (Paynham)
6. Ashmead (Pulteney)
7. Christophers (Grange) - WK
8. Southam (Woodville Rech)
9. Sheikh (Payneham)
10. Mitchell (AHOS)
11. Turner (Pooraka)

A fairly formidable side and probably a fair few blokes unlucky to miss out. Happy to hear any comments on the best ATCA XI......

Reckon Jeff Vaughan might get a look in or are you only considering players from A1?

Yeah spoke about Vaughan last night with a few boys but initially I had only considered A1 players. Who would Vaughan replace in the side listed?

No disrespect but I reakon most grade sides would spank that side.
As you know nearly all those blokes have played grade at some point and decided that the training, commitment (amongst other things) was no longer for them.
A younger, fitter, more disciplined grade side would prevail 9 times out of 10.

Cheers

Vaughan could replace any of them. He is a better batsmen than all of them by far. You'd have to throw Watson from Concordia and Gabb from Reynella in the mix. Very, very good cricketers.

Fair point - 26 wickets at 12.04 and 151 runs at 30.20 before this game but would struggle on reputation to oust any of the other 'big names' listed in the original side. Still pretty exceptional figures though.....
