Wow  Imagine if he'd kicked straight.

I remember that he had an extraordinary year but looking at the stats it was more than extraordinary. What an amazing year. That is a record that i am confident will never be equalled.

After 14 matches, Chambers had 6 more goals than him at that stage. It's what came after this is what's amazing, I don't have streaks for ever player, but even that would be testing a 9 match streak for Farmer or Schultz in 1940.

I remember being at the GF as an 8yo hoping he would get the record, then seeing him get injured and thinking he wouldn't get it.

Good punch up in the ressies GF too!

Was. Doubt Hodges would have too many this season. Of course, this isn't about who the better player was, but it's just interesting to see how good a season Chambers is actually having when his numbers are better than one of the SANFL's greatest full forward's greatest seasons. Personally, I don't think Chambers is that great but even I can't deny the season he's had to date. Could be the last century goalkicker for a while.

I don't think there would be too many to dispute that Woodwt, I think these comparisons are just being made because ( I think) Hodges was the last bloke to kick 100+ goals in the SANFL.
Maybe in 10 odd years from now we'll be bringing up Chambers' stats to compare with the whoever looks to be giving the ton a shake at that time.

That 1990 Round 15 game was against West Adelaide. The first match after the AFL bid announcement. Look at those scores after the announcement was made. Incredible. If thats not a player (and club) making a statement then I dont know what is!

For the record Adam Richardson of West Adelaide was the last player to kick 100 goals in season 1998 and went on to be leading goalkicker in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

I'd like to know the source of that info, because he only kicked 85 goals in that year.

He kicked 66 goals in 1999, 72 in 2000 - Chris Kluzek equalled him in the finals, and 84 in 2001.
