Great SANFL Full Forwards of last 30 years

Being a Perth lad I know more about the WAFL than SANFL but I know your league has produced some sensational Full Forwards since the mid-70's.

In the WAFL we've had some brilliant FF's (arguably even better than the SANFL ones!!), notably Warren Ralph, Simon Beasley, Ray Bauskis, Mick Rea, Darren Bennett, Jason Heatley and Troy Wilson.

I know you've had some rippers too e.g. Tim Evans, Grenville Dietrich, Rick Davies and Scott Hodges.

Take us down memory lane with your best memories.

Hodges' Magarey year of 1990 with 150 goals was certainly a great effort, although it must be said he had silver service delivery.

Fred Phillis' 18 goals against Central in 1975 is legendary.

Blighty's 14 goals from 15 kicks against Westies in 1985 was a masterclass. Countless opponents from Rotten Ronnie Andrews to Clayton Lamb.

John Roberts was a very good full forward who never immediately springs to mind in discussions of full forwards.

Rick Davies went from shoving ruckmen to shoving full backs with ease.

Daniel Hargraves is one of the all time North greats now when it comes to the history books. Kicked more goals at North than my hero Grenville!

Didn't he kick something like 16 goals in a game for Woodville once too?

I do remember Scott Morphett having a great year in 1991. I think he was unfortunately stranded on 99 when the Eagles went out of the finals in straight sets.

WestOz, whatever happened to Jason Heatley? I thought he looked awesome when he was with the Saints, but it all seemed to turn around rather quickly, is he still having a kick these days??

North actually had him signed the year bloody St Kilda picked him up late (PSD I think). Might not have got Hargs if we had Heatley, could have put a big twist on history.

I have to put in a word for Adam Richardson. He won the Ken Farmer 4 years in a row (I think?), despite battling recurrent hamstring problems and was never seen at his absolute best because of it. A terrific bloke and a great character. I have fond memories of him kicking 10 at Prospect one day.

I presume you are referring to Ken Farmer? Couldn't argue with that.

Heatley I think ended up coaching in Canberra after his AFL career ended but I don't know of his current whereabouts or football involvement.

He kicked at least 2 hauls of 100 or more in the WAFL from 1993 to 1996. I saw him kick 14 against Swan Districts one day and he was unstoppable (for Swans anyway). Also he had one of the best kicking styles and made his drop punts travel long and unerringly. He was a bit greedy but then again I think that is an asset for a full forward...providing they convert their opportunities.

One of my earliest footy memories - needed 3 goals in the 1st Semi, and ended up with 2.5.
