North were 47 points down at 1/2 time what a great effort
That would be D JARMAN who kicked 3 goals, and DOUG SMART with 5 ?
Norwood had Glen MOLLOY,Tim MCNEIL AND Mark DUCKER as well.

Now a question for the historians who won the g/f replay played at Unley Oval ?
And did anyone see this drawn game and the replay for a review ?

Big Grenville kicked 100 goals that year in the seniors.
Norwood won the league g/f coming from 5th spot as well[ahh memories]

Yes, I was at the drawn match at Woodville Oval, but not at the replay. Norwood was the dominant side all season and at half time looked to be cruising. Jon Sampson was marking everythig at CHF for the Redlegs and although North had some good players looked well out of their depth. In the 2nd half it was amazing to see North storm back into the game and they were very unlucky not to win. You were right, it was Darren Jarman, Doug Smart and Gilbert McAdam.

I wasn't at the replay the following week, because I was at Football Park watching Norwood defeat Port Adelaide in the League Grand Final. (what a great day that was).

The score was:

Norwood 14-14, North Adelaide 7-13

N: Molloy 4 Ducker 3 Petney McNeil Gray Zadow D'Antiochia Sampson Canala
NA: Flaherty 3 Pill 2 Oatway McInerney

It wasn't Glenn Molloy, it was his older brother Rob Molloy. He kicked 121 goals for the Norwood U17s that season.

Jarman + Smart 0 goals in the replay, did they play ?

Apart from the Best and Fairest and The Most Consistent I have no idea what happened to the rest of them. Con Nicholas trained with the league team in the lead up to the 1985 Grand Final even though he hadn't played league football. It was thought he might be Nunan's wild card in selection but he didn't get a spot. He didn't play any league football in the end from memory.
It also worth noting that Norwood's Under 17s were undefeated in the minor round (19 games) and the Second Semi Final, so the first Grand Final was almost the miracle of miracles in terms of a win.

What oval is that taken at? Doesn't look like Prospect.......

Looks vagely like the Oatey stand at Unley or even teh old Kensington Oval Grand stand???

I reckon that's the Barry Jarman Stand in the background so it's Woodville Oval. Been a while since I've seen the BJ stand close up but I'm pretty sure I'm right. That being the case it may have been taken on the day of the first GF.

I'm not convinced it is the BJ stand as it appears to be too wide....hwowever I have no real idea so I could be wrong....

Did he what!!! He went onto to.....um....um.....um........no hang on it'll come to me. Oh! There was that time he.....no that was someone else. Didn't he?....no that was someone else as well. I'll get back to you.

Its amazing what moving to Norwood can do to your career, he could have been anything before taking the money with Jars.
I still think back with joy to those days when Norwood supporters complain about the salary cap.

LOL ... I think converting you might have been his only achievement mate ... Got to know Balmy pretty well though when he switched

Con Nicholas didnt play league footy
but did play in my cricket team.
