One for the history buffs including @spell_check.
I read recently that Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom broke the 'span between consecutive premierships' record in the AFL/VFL in 2023, having also played in Collingwood's 2010 premiership side, i.e. 13 years earlier. The previous record-holder was Doug Wade (1963-75).
In terms of 'span between first and last premierships', i.e. regardless as to how many occurred in between, I would think that Michael Tuck's (1976-91) and Joel Selwood's (2007-2022) 15 years would be the record, but I can't definitely say there isn't a longer span.
It got me thinking about the SANFL. In terms of span between consecutive flags, the best I can think of is Peter Carey's 12 years (i.e. 1973-85). Garry McIntosh would have betted this in 1997 had he not battered Stuart Dew in the prelim.
I'm reasonably confident that Greg Phillip's 15 years between first and last flags - 1977-92 - would be the record (McIntosh again could have equalled this had he played in 1997). But I'd be keen if anyone can think of a longer span. In particular, I could have missed someone who's moved between clubs.
