Just wanted to let the site know about Alex’s passing. Spent two years at South. Very sad news! A gofundme has already raised $120k in 48 hours. He was universally loved. Maybe some southies remember/met him while he was in SA.

Very sad, my daughter tells me he was a larger than life character who everyone absolutely adored.
I think the fact they've hit over 120k in less than a couple of days shows how much he was loved.
Life really isn't fair.
Well done to Abbey (who was on survivor) for starting the fundraiser.

Terrible news. Seemed like a really good guy. Remember him being interviewed on channel 7 after one of South's rare televised games. He played well and discussed how he wound up in Australia etc :(

Shocking news, far too young to go. Loved watching him play, his improvement during his time at South was great and he was becoming a threat up forward and in the ruck. Vale Alex.

Awful news. Liked him as a player, had a bit of mongrel and wore his heart on his sleeve.

Big Alex was a one-off, both in being an Amercian playing our game, his large frame and even larger personality. So sad and so young.

This week has been a tough one for everyone within the South Adelaide family, along with the broader football community.

As a tribute to former player Alexander Aurrichio, we will be streaming a memorable game against North in 2018.

It will be streamed via our Facebook page, or if you want to relive it on the big screen, you can also stream via YouTube.

We hope you can join us as we share some great memories of Rooch.

Met Alex numerous times and even caught a train back from the 2018 SANFL final with him and Tyson Brown (South current player).

Larger than life bloke, lived life to the fullest and also had a huge care for people.

At his time at South he made a huge impression.

One of those people that walks into a room and you notice them.

RIP Alex - I will miss you :(

A South supporting relative of mine who doesn't normally make outlandish comments stated that if the big American as he referred to him, had been chosen to play in the Elimination Final of 2018, South would have beaten North (and he wasn't trying to bait me, it was his honest opinion). We will never know if that was true or not but it is extremely sad for someone so young and obviously full of life to be taken. Life is just so unfair.
