Following on from the sad news of the passing of Keiran Agius, another former SANFL player has left us way too soon.

Sam De Leonardis died of a brain tumour a couple of days ago, aged 25. Had been playing at Broadview, as I understand.

The North Adelaide Football Club is saddened by the passing of one of our favourite former players Sam De Leonardis at the young age of 25.

Sam, who came to us from the Broadview FC, progressed through our underage programs from under 13’s before making his League debut in 2014 against West Adelaide. Sam played 20 League games and kicked 10 goals including a haul of 4 goals 3 against Glenelg at the Bay on the June long weekend of 2016. After the match, he was presented with the Dean Higgins Medal for that best on ground performance.

Sam was a very popular figure among his team mates, coaches and support staff during his time with us, and will be sadly missed by all.

We’re thinking of his family at this very difficult time.

Sam was such a passionate pleyer, I enjoyed watching him go about his footy! RIP Sam!

Incredibly sad .. Forget football (or any sport for that matter), always gut-wrenching to hear of the young ones passing too soon. Thoughts with Sam, family and friends :(
