Hi Spelly,
John McInnes played his first league game for Norwood on 8/9/56 (1st SF v North) and his second on 4/4/70 (Round 1 v Port), 13 years and 208 days later. Would that be the longest span between consecutive league games in South Australia?

I reckon Ben Hart might have had a bigger break, although he played 300 games for the Crows in between. He last played for North in the pre season cup in 1992 before returning to North in 2007, a break of 15 years.

Tony McGuinness is another one with a huge break between games, he left Glenelg after playing in the 1985 grand final and the returned to Glenelg and played one game as playing coach in 1998.

One J Platten might give this a nudge as well - but did he get on the park when he got back to CD?

Yes. I remember him playing for CD at Elizabeth in a modest (couple of goals) win over the Bays. It was the telecast match that week.

Platten played in 1985 and 1998, same as McGuinness.

Ben Hart certainly has them beaten.
