Jack Oatey (or equivalent) medallists

Postby Pseudo » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:26 pm

Herr Spellmeister,

Today the U18s Alan Stewart medal (the Jack Oatey for the U18s) was won by a player from the losing side.

When if ever has this happened before, across any of the grades?

Without stealing Spelly's thunder on the first one Pseudo - no Jack Oatey Medallist has been from the losing team.

It may have changed yesterday, had Lee Spurr's kick been on target.

Cheers CK. But had Spurr's kick been on target, the JO medal still would have gone to a player on the winning team ;)

I thought yesterday could have been the day that a player from the losing side won one for the first time. Especially seeing there has not been a closer Grand Final since the Medal was inaugurated in 1981.

Three out of the four grades in 1978 (Sturt in the League, North in the 19s and Port in the 17s) lost to Norwood, West and Central.
