BOB Clayton, one of Port Adelaide's much-loved figures as a player and team official, has died.

Clayton died on Thursday morning after battling acute myeloid leukaemia. He was 65.

He played 151 SANFL games for the Magpies from 1966 to 1975.

Our family got to know the Claytons quite well when the lads played their junior footy at Salisbury, he was always able to share his time to offer advice/support around the club, a really good fella to have around.

A sad day for the Port Adelaide Football Club and for South Australian Football in general.

Was lucky enough to have a general footy chat with Bob some time last year when at a Maggies game, a really nice guy and passionate Maggies man.

Condolonces to the family and friends, RIP Bob.
