How times change. In the death knells of the old National Australian Football Council, Leigh Whicker had this to say about the AFL:

"Whicker will also call for the role and power of the NAFC to be defined.

'There is an urgent need for the NAFC to assume control of all leagues in regard to one set of laws, rules, policies and philosophy. By agreement, the NAFC permitted the AFL to run the national competition until the end of the 1994 season, but that doesn't mean the AFL has the right to run football all throughout Australia'."

Didn't take long for Godwin's Law to make its presence felt.
