What is the biggest gap in points at the end of minor round ladder between 5th and 6th placed sides.

Bored at work so i did my prediction of the ladder (obviously these are rarely correct) and i had possibly West or Glenelg in 5th spot on 26 points and Sturt or Port in 6th place on 12 points.

While they arent often correct i do believe there is a massive gap this between the 5th and 6th sides would be interested to see what you can come up with.

Four wins between West and Port in 2002 is the record for 5th and 6th positions. However, there was a 4 1/2 game gap between Port and South (4th and 5th) in 1941. Here is a list of a 3 win separation between the finalists and non-finalists:

Final 4:
1941 - Port 11 5 1 South 6 11
1949 - West 11 6 Glenelg 8 9
1952 - Norwood 10 7 Glenelg 6 11
1956 - Norwood 10 8 Torrens 6 11 1
1957 - Norwood 11 7 Sturt 8 10
1972 - Central 14 7 Sturt 11 10

Final 5:
1977 - South 13 9 Torrens 10 12
1984 - Norwood 13 9 West 10 12
1993 - Central 12 8 South 9 11
1997 - North 11 8 1 West 8 11 1
2002 - West 10 10 Port 6 14
2009 - North 11 9 West 7 12 1

Glenelg won't win 13 games. No certainty to even make finals. Glenelg vs Port in round 22 may even decide 5th place.

Do you honestly think Port will win enough to even get close to finals.

I hope this isnt based on the fact they beat South at home!!

Glenelg was drawn to play Sturt 3 times. There's 3 down, 10 to go...

Glenelg have to win 9 of their last 12 to get to 13 wins. Only play Sturt once more.

Moreso that I can see Port winning about another 6 games.

The wide gap in 1984 is interesting considering where Norwood came from to make the finals.
How was West's last 6-8 weeks that year, were they (or another team) comfortably in the five and then bombed out?

Sturt, West and Norwood were all 6-8 after Round 14. Respectively, they were 2-6, 4-4 and 7-1 from then on.
