Best defence

Norwood, as far as I can add up, conceded 1481 points across its 24 games this year at an average of 61.71 points per game.

I appreciate that some exceptionally wet winters (and the fact that way back pre-WW2, the game was simply much lower scoring) will mean that this couldn't be an all-time record.
But geez, it's got to be up there.

So, some questions:
1. How long since a Norwood side has conceded fewer average points per game?
2. How long since any side has conceded fewer average points per game?
3. How long since any side (and a Norwood side) has conceded fewer than 1239 points in the minor round*?
3. How long since a side that played the maximum 4 finals, conceded fewer than 242 points across those games?

* While noting it's an unfair comparison with the era when every side played 22 games in the minor round (which is why I've mostly focused on average points per game).

3) 1997 - 1145 points
4) 1998 - Port conceded 236.

As always, you're a legend. Given our largely unspectactular minor round record (is 1997 the only time in the last 40+ years that Norwood have been minor premiers?), I never for a moment thought that the most recent better SANFL-wide result would be by Norwood.

1975 and 1997 are the only minor premierships Norwood have after 1950.

With 1997, not only Norwood had by far the best defence for the whole season (60.43 to the next best Sturt with 76.67); the best attack was gained by a fair distance (105.1 to Central with 95.96)
