I don't remember much of the game itself but have obviously watched it numerous times on tape afterwards...

Two things that stand out in the mind for me were Danny Hulm's post game speech and me crying like a girl when the final siren went...

Yes, F**K the Olympics.
The weekend the GF would normally have been held was bright and sunny and warm from memory, which would have suited the Eagles a lot more rather than the cold rainy day of Sept 10th which suited the Dogs.
We were completely "out-toughed" in conditions that more than any other day required toughness at the ball and body, and I think subsequently scarred our efforts for the next five years when we came up aganist the Dogs in the finals.
Whether the result would have been different is not my point, it was the reputation of weakness when things were at their toughest that may not have resulted.

McDonald's footballs! I still have mine.

I remember being nervous as hell all week. My heart pounding as I walked into the stadium.

Realising in the last five minutes and crying and hugging all of my family and friends around me (we went in a block of about 20).

The presentation, the world's longest lap of honour, the massive celebrations afterwards.

Stopping at my grandfather's grave the next morning with a clipping from the paper detailing the victory - finally - which occurred almost a year to the day to late for him to see. It's a tradition I still keep.

It's nice revisiting that - I'm feeling emotional again!

A very special day in the history of the club and in the hearts of every Centrals supporter.

I've dug out the old VCR and am currently watching the match.

May the dynasty continue.

Stephen Trigg on the coverage: "I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to give people footballs". "Some idiots thrown one on the field". Or words to that effect.

Great story/memories DW.

My best mate was a broke uni student so I promised to by him a GF ticket on one condition. And that was he wore a madhatters cdfc coloured hat all day which he did. He appears on the DVD/vidoe in his hat at the 16th minute mark of the last quarter. I show it everytime we watch the game.

After a dismal loss in 1994 the same mate bet me if Centrals ever won a flag he would drink a half bottle of coke which is lying around on my car floor. I changed cars 3 times in the next 6 years but always kep the half bottle of coke just in case.

He drunk it ten years ago today and is still alive to tell the tale.

I remember the first quatrer was goalless . I was getting extremely nervous so moved myself to the premiers bar in the second and stayed in the bar until half way thru the last quarter.

One of the best "CCEENNNTTRAAALSSSSS" chants ever that day.

I remember the round abouts in elizabeth were painted red white and blue, and after the game there were cars everywhere beeping at everyone, yelling wither "YOOOOOOUUUUUU DOOOOOOOOGSSSS!" or "CEEEEEEENNNNTTTTRRRRAAAALLLS!"

It was my first GF and I remember pissing myself when Triggy (I think) accidentally called Sam McArdle, Scott. Standing next to big Scotty at the time made it even funnier!

The absolute relief. I thought it would never happen.
Thinking of some of the supporters (Robbie), who passed away before getting to see such a result.
The amazing chanting that reverberated around the ground.
Strangely, Kynan Fords goal. As well as Healy's from 50.
Danny Hulm's (legend) speech. The look on Danny Hulm's face as he hugged, I think the Gowans at the final siren.

Is anyone technically competent enough (calling Cennals) to post it on you tube - please?

Just watched this - the moment I knew we were home. That, along with that 5 minute period in the third quarter in 2008 when Centrals kicked away, are up there with my all time favourite Grand Final moments.

Stewie Dew was brilliant that day. That goal he kicked from outside 50 was awesome but a some of other things he did were just as briiliant, like the holding the ball he got when the eagles player ducked into his legs, the snap around the corner goal and my favourite was the smother on the outer wing when he ran about 20-30 mtrs to get to the contest.

Mark naleys commentary for the Stewy Dew goal is "special" , something like "the ball goes outside to stewy dew from 60 metres, oh no, oh no, oh no OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But my favourite bit of commentary on the day is from David Mckay during the second quarter. Mckay claims "the dogs are getting tired due to a lactic acid build up, its a tactic the eagles use against them" I never knew Eagles players were immune to lactic acid build up. ;)

I woke up the next morning about 6:00 with little memory but still wearing my centrals top from the day before. I Ran down to the local BP to grab the paper just to make sure we'd won.

Great memories

Was this against Adam Pearce in the secone 1/4, about 25mt out from Centrals goal? This was the type of incident I was referring to in my post above. It looked like he ducked into it and just gave up.
