Pretty staggering really.

Wouldn't have thought this early-season ladder anomaly would have happened too often over the years - South are 1 win, 1 draw and 0 losses (and 1 bye), entering Round 4 in 6th spot on the ladder - so thus far they are undefeated, yet almost a month into the season the Panthers are sitting outside the 5.

Westies' % of 52% is pretty high for a 7th ranked side too, however I wouldn't have thought that would be overly rare.

I can't find any other instance of a team being undefeated after Round 3, but in 6th place. The bye South had plus the draw makes it possible.

North after Round 3 1988 had a % of 54.72; and there are quite a few others who have a % above 52.5 in 7th spot.

The most incredible % I have ever seen is North's in 1984. North only won 6 games for the year with 16 losses, finished 8th out of 10, yet had a percentage of over 50%. Is that the only tme a team finishing 8th had a percentage of over 50.

That is why their 1985 season wasn't as big a shock as some might have expected.
