The 200,000th behind since 1907

Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

The 200,000th behind since 1907

Postby spell_check » Sat Jun 10, 2006 1:14 am

It should be scored in either the third quarter or the fourth quarter of the three games played today.

This is excluding the World War 2 competition and pre season games, currently according to the records Ecky and I have are 199,954 behinds up to the last round. So the 46th behind scored in these three matches will be the 200,000th.

WTF, I can't believe anyone has kept count, your ability to dig up these stats that most wouldn't care about is unbelievable. Do you have a life outside stats and footy?
With each of the 6 teams playing today needing only 7.66666 behinds each, it could happen before 1/2 time.

Spelly, do you have the breakdown of behinds kicked in each decade (07-06)? It would be pretty interesting to see.

It's gonna be a bit tricky to work out which player kicks the behind!

What I think would be interesting is the ratio of behinds to goals for each decade. That way each decade's goal kicking accuracy could be compared.

That's an awesome stat spelly, well done.

Would also love to see the break-down of goals/points ratio of the previous decades!

The thing that interests me out of all those millions of numbers ( ) is the trends in the number of goals/points scored over time.

The biggest drop from one year to the next was between 1995 and 1996 when the average points scored by a team in a game dropped from 96 to 81.

I suspect this must have coincided with a rule change - was this the year the time on rule was changed to 20 mins plus time on?
