Rate teams of the 21st Century

Postby Jimmy » Fri Jun 09, 2006 11:06 am

following on from wedgies thread...lets have a go at this century's best teams...even in its infancy, should be an interesting topic...

my take

dogs - easily
sturt - won a flag but just ahead of the consistent eags
eagles - if they had cracked the gf win a few times might be in 2nd spot
legs - wasted opportunities
port - yet to win a flag but like a dag on a sheeps ass, always around
west - never really a threat
south - just doing enough to be 7th
north - dont deserve it but were terrible early on, getting up there now
bays - terrible, altho getting there
Carn the blues!!!!!

Hmm, good question, over such a short period of time I'll use a rating system looking at premiership table placings from 2000 until present.
1 point for top, 2 points for 2nd, etc with the best score being the lowest:

Central 1,1,2,1,1,1,5 = 12
Eagles 2,2,4,3,2,2,3 = 18
Port 4,3,6,5,6,3,1 = 28
Sturt 3,6,1,4,3,5,8 = 30
Norwood 5,4,3,6,9,6,6 = 39
North 8,8,7,9,4,4,2 = 42
West 7,5,5,2,5,9,9 = 42
South 6,7,8,7,8,7,7 = 50
Glenelg 9,9,9,8,7,8,4 = 54

3 spoons is worse. Or does 2000 count as 20th century?

If one was to also take into account factors like club stability, Glenelg would be so far behind the 8th ranked club that it wouldn't be funny :(

For simplicity's sake both my 20th and 21th century posts have the century ending at 31/12/99 and the new century beginning at 1/1/00.
I know mathematically speaking that's not correct but its what most people (wrongly or rightly) associate with the beginning and end of the centuries.

My system

1st 10 pts
2nd 7pts
3rd 5pts
4th 3pts
5th 1pt
Never give a sucker an even break

Nor ban a user for an acceptable topic of discussion.

"Baby on board". Why dont you put a sign on ur car saying "adult on board" or "car stereo in use"?

I realise Eagles haven't won a flag, but they have played in 4 Grand Finals from 2000-2005.
