So the only other match that it could be:
Round 14 1988
Port 1.0 5.2 8.4 12.7 (79)
North 4.5 7.10 10.13 10.15 (75)
Football Park, 12949
But because you made mention of the brawls and reports, it's probably going to be the 1989 match.

Spelly, do you have the 1988 ladder at end of minor round, including wins and losses? Just got me thinking how many games in that year there were substantial comebacks and how it affected the finals placings. From memory Port came from way behind to beat Norwood, and Glenelg lost two games at the end of the minor round after leading easily.

If its the game i'm thinking of, a game towards the end of the minor round, Port defeated Norwood quite easily in a low scoring game, the Redleds only had 1 goal at half time i think. I think that was the minor round, as opposed to a final..
Edit: i'm not sure if the game you're thinking of is the one a day or 2 after Anthony Williams tragically died, and there was a reshuffling of the Port side, with Fiacchi placed in a back pocket, starting off his successful partneship with Delaney in the last line of defence.
