Running around in the Ammos here in Melbourne with Collegians last year (leading goalkicker in the comp, I believe) before retiring with a foot injury. Came out of retirement this year.

Bowen Lockwood?

Was an article about him in 'tiser a few years ago. Hope he's doing a bit better these days.

Damn that back of his.

Could've been anything. A few Vic clubs, including his hometown club Geelong, tried to trade for him at the end of his impressive rookie year.

Untouchable at the time and thought of more highly than Tredrea. Unfortunately the two-headed Treadrea-Lockwood monster forward line never eventuated.

Rucci once wrote a scathing article about Lockwood, basically questioning his commitment and doubting the severity of his back injury. Later went on the 5AA Saturday morning footy show and said he was asked to write it by a PAFC board member.

That article showed he's still in a pretty bad way...

Remember watching Lockwood kick around 10-12 goals for the Dogs one day at Prospect in around 2000, was very impressive, yes damn that back of his.

Actually played some of 2008 for Callington

Remember when he suited up for Kilburn back in '96 the good old media were trying to link his comeback to footy with the initial Power squad being named later that year. LOL

Along with Troy Bond in 2008....I wonder if Saliba ever missed training at Callington and gave the coach the same excuse he gave Graham Cornes one day....had to go to Melbourne to see Guns 'n' Roses :-)

Saliba played at Meningie in the River Murray League about 2 or 3 years ago. Left in semi controversial fashion ie. contractual issues.

At least he was honest!

Wonder why he didn't play more than three AFL games? ;)

Eddie Hocking just finished coaching Salisbury in Div 3, unfortunately to a wooden spoon after a Div 4 premiership in 2007. He has indicated he is not going on next year, so not sure what he is doing. I believe he also coached sth clare and paralowie in previous years

Think this was asked a few years back but whatever happened to Tim McNeil from Norwood?
Burst onto the scene with a great first (?) year in the late '80's but then seemed to disappear just as quickly.

While on the Norwood theme I have always wondered what happened to Damien Mellow who was on the Crows inaugral list as a young bloke but then seemed to drop out of the SANFL once he dropped off the Crows list.

Is this the same Damien Mellow? http://www.northernargus.com.au/news/lo ... 12037.aspx

How long did he stay at Norwood for after the Crows and where to from there? I remember seeing him in a pre-season internal trial of the Crows in about 1992 and he looked $1m.
In between signatures .....

I recall another Norwood player, Mark Jones, i thought he'd make the AFL as a specialist forward flanker, unfortunately didn't make it after some really good early games. Finished up in the amateurs at a fairly young age.

You guys are making me cry. Norwood had that much genuine talent around the club in the early-mid 90s but lost players like McNeil to injuries, and players like Jones were basket cases. Could really play, but no brains.

Jones was the closest thing I've seen to Peter Daicos of Collingwood. He could kick freakish goals from any angle and looked like being anything. Was drafted early by Richmond who flew him over for the Grand Final. While he was there he cashed in his return ticket for drinking money and then rolled up on the strps of the Richmond club wantng to know how he was going to get home. Needless to say Richmond lost interest real quick.

He also suffered injuries, and played Amatuer League for awhile. Made a brief comeback with Central District - if any Central fan could tell me games and goals for the Dogs I'd appreciate it - but really didn't have the brains or ticker for top level footy.

Damien Mellow played 3 years at Norwood and looked the goods. After that he played a handful of games with South Adelaide. I seriously could write an essay on the wasted potential at Norwood in that period.
