I'm looking for some input on the win-loss records for clubs from 1907-2007 minor round only.

I have the premiership tables for all these years and adding the win-loss records from those, I get the following table.

Port Adelaide 1206 506 15
Norwood 989 720 18
North Adelaide 879 830 18
Sturt 870 843 14
West Torrens 863 842 22
West Adelaide 791 919 17
Glenelg 677 905 13
South Adelaide 611 1103 13
Central District 472 440 6
Woodville 158 408 4

However, those figures don't match the win-loss records one obtains by using the club v club records from the 2008 media guide, there's a couple of wins, losses and draws here and there that don't add up.

I'm hoping someone out there has figures from the premiership tables, that match the above and if so, do they have club v club records that then match that, so I can find out where the error lies.

As I'm confident my tables are correct and that its the media guide that's a bit off...

That could well be the case

Have you compared with the 2009 Season Guide? Those head to heads were checked with Spell Check whose records I will never question.

Feel free to PM me were you think things are out and we will look at should there be a guide in 2010.

I think for some of those teams, they are just the minor round ladders.

Woodville for example is definitely 160 wins 411 losses and 4 draws. You've got two less wins and three less losses there for Woodville, which is the finals record for them.

Yeah the stats I've put there are just minor round, that's where I have a mis-match. The club v club for major round games matches my stats, so happy there. Even though I think I have the premiership tables right and therefore the total win loss records right for 1907-2007, I don't have club v club records myself, so I can only compare my totals against what the guide says and a couple of numbers are out, so just wondering where the error is, with me or with the guide.

I PM'ed PhilH with an anomaly for South Adelaide as an example... the 15 draws it has in the guide for minor round games, I count only 13 draws in that period.

Overall I have 8 more wins/losses and 2 less draws than the guide...

7516 wins/losses and 140 draws as opposed to the guide which has 7508 wins/losses and 142 draws when you add the club v club records together.

As I said to PhilH in PM, not trying to be a smartie, just wanting some help to see where I might have gone wrong...

It's not a case of being a "smartie", as you put it. Trying to get the figures right is what some of us are looking to do, and if you find an anomaly, you should say so.
