There was an R McNeil who played 3 games for West Torrens in 1977. Anyone know what his first name is?

There is a G.McNeill listed in the West Torrens 2nds in 1977 but I have no record of him playing a league game.

He was in the West Torrens Annual Report in 1977, so he might have been only in that.

There was a D Brown in 1986 who played 6 games and kicked 5 goals for Torrens. Could this be Darryl Brown?

I'm confused about the D.Brown situation. I have Darryl Brown as playing for West Torrens in 1979, no record of 1986 appearances. Maybe these games are pre-season matches, my records are of matches in the full season.

In League Football in South Australia (circa 1978) he is listed as playing 3 games for West Torrens. Can't help out with a first name though.

D Brown was in the 1986 Finanical Report for West Torrens in that year, so I might have to look at that again.

He might be the same player, perhaps? There's no record of R McNeil in the Reserves?

I went through all the 1977 Football Budgets and no mention of R McNeil. The closest I saw was R McConnell.

Torrens didn't play in the night competition that year, so it could well be the same player - R.Graham McNeil, but it is strange that he can't be found in the League team in the Budgets. For now, I'll add him to the Torrens list as well as D Brown.

I found Graham McNeil but not R McNeil.

So it might be R.Graham McNeil, I would doubt it would be otherwise.

Yes, it is Graham McNeil, for sure, so he'll be listed as R.Graham McNeil. Also D Brown is Darryl Brown.

Also, I was wondering when C Oliver played for South in the 60's? And how many games did he play?

So revisiting this question and using the wonderful West Torrens book as a reference, Graham McNeil played the three matches in 1977 in Round 3, 4 and 8.

Darryl Brown returned to Torrens in 1986 and played his 6 matches as two premiership matches - Rounds 19 and 20 and 4 pre season matches.

Memory is a bit hazy but IIRC, Brown left Sturt because there was a clash between club and player over him competing in the Westfield ultra-marathon - you know, the one Cliff Young won in 1983.

Pretty sure Brown ran the Westfield marathon one year. Just not exactly sure which year it was...

This would be the same Darryl Brown who ran the Wheatsheaf at Thebby until about 2 years ago?
