Spelly,

Can you give stats on how teams starting 7 wins, 0 losses have fared in history.
Like, hey they ever not won the premiership?

If not, what's the best start ever to a season that didn't yield a flag?

Cheers,

ST...

ST, fairly sure Eagles in 94 were unbeaten until perhaps first weekend in June, lost the game after playing your mob in Foundation Cup GF during the week IIRC, so that probably would have been 10 games at least.
Also, think North in 1989 were undeafeted until they played Port in the middle of the season, IIRC it was a night game the same day Vics gave us a hiding at MCG.

I reckon Glenelg was 10-zip or thereabouts in 1981 before losing to Port at Glenelg.

Seems to be a common thread amongst these....who won the flags in these years?

I think it was more than that ... I may be wrong but IIRC it was 16 or 18 and then they lost 2 of the last 3.

North won the first eleven straight in 85 and 89 lot of good it did us. Sturt won 18(?) or so in a row IIRC in 1970 before losing the last three rounds but then took the flag in straight sets.

I recall that North got to about 11-0 (?) in 1985

So far it looks like unbeaten runs at the start of seasons end up us losing Grand Finalsts....

Only one I can think of that may go against this would be Norwood in 1997, but can't recall how many games they won at the start of the season.

And I am praying my hardest too :)

Sturt in 78 only lost one game IIRC, against West at Richmond (by a point). I don't know which round that was though.

I've watched that game a few times now and to this day, I still don't know how you lost.

Well if you ever do, that definitely wasn't a mark that was paid to Gags to put the Legs in front ... sorry, I can't change the result though!

Wests win against Sturt in 1978 was by 22 points, in Round 6.

Port went through the minor round undefeated in 1912, only to lose the Final and Challenge Final to West. Port went through the season undefeated in 1914.
