Players Injured hitting the brick wall at the Parade?

Does anyone know how many players over the years since the brick wall was built as an area of the boundary fence at the Parade have been injured from hitting into it?

It is suggested that North Adelaide champion Barry Barbery had a nasty hit with it in the 1960's, are there any others people can think of?

Been done before.

I'm pretty certain the answer was no one.

Although someone might have broken their fist after punching it in frustration.

Last year one of the Glenelg juniors broke his arm after being bumped into the wall.

They should have never been able to build it. It's too dangerous

Yeah, those occ health and safety officials back in the day were pretty poor weren't they.

I reckon there'd be more injuries from fences and advertising hoardings than that wall.

Westies wingman Robert Hooper busted his shoulder when he was bumped into it. That would be late 60s/early 70s.

I had thought Norwood wingman Glen Rosser damaged an elbow on that brick wall
I did post that on SAFOOty but it was disputed
So Dunno
A/HAWK would prob know for sure, he knows everything !!!

Is a very dangerous brick wall, and have seen players sore after colliding with it.

Barrie Barbary had a nasty accident whilst playing for Woodville in about 1968. It was shown on TV and was one of the worst incidents, albeit an accident that I have ever seen.

Someone once rang up Ken Cunningham to say that Peter Vivian also collided with the wall. They were of course referring to the Norwood rover who played in the 1960 Grand final, KG contacted the Central wingman of the 1970s and early 80s of the same name, who of course said that he had never had a collision with the wall. KG then said categorically that no one had ever hit the wall. He must have forgotten about Barbary and I believe Rosser.

I'll try to put this to bed once and for all.

Glen Rosser did NOT collide with the wall at Norwood Oval. Glen Rosser injured his elbow when he crashed into the coaching box at UNLEY Oval, Round 2, 1970.

More people have been injured running onto the ground than by running intro the wall. Certainly a lot more players have been injured running into goal posts. I've played on Norwood Oval, more than once, and the danger of the wall at Norwood Oval is as farcical as the Loch Ness Monster.

Speaking of frustration and the Norwood Oval wall, do you remember when Eddie Hocking was talking to the Central Coach and ripped the phone off the wall after copping a spray? Classic.

Did he then try to show the ball, run around the Phone on the Mark, take a bounce and kick a goal? :D

When I was a trainer for Glenelg in about 2000/2001 Norwood(and Eventually Glenelg) Ruckman Brad Smith came running towards the boundary line looking to take a mark. His momentum carries on after taking the mark and he preceeded to hip and shoulder me (accidentally) into the infamous brick wall. I wasnt hurt but the 4000+ crowd found it very amusing

I received a concussion hitting the fence on the outer side of Norwood Oval - close, but that can happen anywhere.

There have been upwards of 20 'near misses' in my time coaching teams playing on Norwood Oval. It would be great if something could be done about it, but near misses don't get things changed, usually.

Anthony Harvey broke his wrist after being pushed into the wall. Outstanding footballer desperately unlucky with injury. Champion bloke though.
