I found this batch of measurements in a Budget around 1962. It said that Kensington Oval was 190 by 132 yards. This is in metres in the list below with the other grounds at the time:
Adelaide 165.2 117.6
Alberton 171.3 128.0
Glenelg 160.6 114.6
Kensington 173.7 120.7
Norwood 162.8 113.4
Prospect 174.7 117.0
Thebarton 169.2 126.5
Richmond 169.2 128.0
Unley 160.9 116.1
Elizabeth 183.5 134.7
Woodville 201.2 121.9
I can't believe that the playing area for Woodville would be that, it did say that all measurements were the playing area.
Then around 1921 I found a list of measurements from fence to fence. This is what they gave for the following grounds:
Adelaide 241.4 126.2
Alberton 192.0 137.2
Glenelg 171.5 123.4
Hindmarsh 146.3 123.4
Jubilee 146.3 141.7
Norwood 184.7 109.7
Unley 173.7 118.9
It would be a fair bet to say that not all of the grounds had kept the fence in the same spot. Norwood for example has a fence to fence measurement of just 109.7 metres, but in 1962 had a boundary line to the other line reading of 113.4 metres.
Allowing for 5 metres between boundary line and fence, that would make Hindmarsh and Jubilee very small. 136.3 by 113.4 for Hindmarsh - I think this would be correct anyway, from what I've read about it, and Jubliee 136.3 by 131.7. A smaller version of the SCG.
