Udogs and http://www.rocketrooster.com have a lot of historical stats.
Check out the "Stat Attack" page on http://www.rocketrooster.com for up to date details on North's record against all other clubs.

Always wanted to find complete player stats.

I've got a couple of seasons - 1983, 1987, 1995, 1996, 2005 - but would love to know the stats leaders of years gone by.

I know the 'Tiser have published them since at least 1983.

Unfortunately I don't believe there are any sites with comprehensive SANFL stats - the stats on the official SANFL site only go back to 2003!

If you want ladders from each year, going back to 1907, this is available at http://www.thepowerfromport.com/sanfl_ladder.php?season=2005
(change the season for different years), plus that site has detailed information on every player to ever play for Port. Note that you need to create an account at the site to view it though.

As Wedgie said, there is some North-related stats at http://www.rocketrooster.com, and http://u-dogs.net/ has the results of every Centrals game ever.

But that is about it as far as I know... Mark Beswick used to have a comprehensive stats site, but this hasn't been operational for a few years now.

A lot of statistical information will be included in Phil Herden's SANFL Media Guide, which will be out by the start of the season. I have been helping check the stats for this book - I'm currently going through checking all the head-to-head records for all teams against all opponents at all grounds.

How about using the FootySA wiki?!

We could start with spell_check's lists and go from there.

The last few times I logged in to the Wiki, it wouldn't open, this time it opened, but what has happened to the club pages? It says the pages don't exist.

You'll have to ask footySA - probably 'moderated'

True, JamesH. That is why we are going back and calculating all the records again from the original data, thanks to Spell_Check's extensive research, which has involved double-checking any discrepancies in the State Library archives.

Does that mean long standing errors like West's 'Longest Serving Coach - 6 years by Neil Kerley 1961-62, 1981-84'

Or Port's Most State Games - 36 (I think?) by Fos Williams (they always included his state games while at West)

Have finally been corrected?

Woo hoo!

Not sure, MP - I haven't seen the pages where those records would be (if they are included). I will keep that in mind if I do though.

By the way, if anyone else knows of specific errors in previous SANFL publications, please post them in this forum, or send me a message, and I will do what I can to get them corrected (if that category is being included in this Media Guide)

One aspect though which we won't be able to check is accurate totals of numbers of games played by each player - that is a minefield which will take much longer to double-check.

An example of the games records inconsistencies - I just spotted one. In the Football Budget Brett James has played 219 games. When I just looked at the SANFL AGM thread, it says that he has played 214 games, plus four state games! I know that the Football Budget no longer lists the State games, nor counts them, because it has Gavin Colville on 202 club games in the Budget, which is correct. (The 2005 Eagles Anuual Report says this too)

Would love to know the actual games played by players between roughly 1976-1994 which were inflated by pre-season night matches.

Always thought it was unfair that players in this era got 'freebie' games that most other players didn't.

Personally, I don't think they should count as official games played and should be in a separate 'night matches' category.

Definitely one area where the AFL has got things right IMO.

I agree 100% Magpiespower. I heard that the AFL told the SANFL it needs to make these corrections to its records, but it is taking a while to verify everything, because the record-keeping has been so poor in the past.

A similar problem occurs with the earlier records as well from what Ive noticed in old annual reports was a game was added to a players tally even if he missed through injury.

I do have limits!

But what I can tell you is that the SANFL would have counted extra games from 1971 - the Coca-Cola Cup, and finished with the 1994 Foundation Cup Grand Final.
